Interior object: spider
Exterior sight: oak tree
Broadcast media: Television news coverage of white house press conference
Print media: Tricycle Website Daily Quote on "Dharmakaya - the essence of all that exists"

I sit and type at my computer
ideas swirling in my mind
that I wish to quiet so that essence
of thought can be revealed.

A spider walks across my desk,
invading my chaotic thoughts with
his un-invited entry into my space
with his own agenda of emergence.

I resist my first temptation
to end his travels with a
sudden cessation of his existence
courtesy of my discomfort with his presence.

Instead I turn my gaze out my window
in an effort to stem compulsion
and replace it with reasoned
consequence and action.

An old oak enters my consciousness
standing grounded in its singular purpose,
reaching for the sky much as the spider
strives focused for the end of my desk.

Suddenly a television turning on
breaks my momentary contemplation,
the spider stops in front of me,
the drone of man's politics enters the moment.

A president answers questions,
trying to justify actions and decisions
made for my best interests,
with his wrong assumptions of what those are.

Looking for solace, I tap into a bookmarked
haven of wisdom on the web, finding a quotation
that speaks to "dharmakaya - the essence of all that exists"
reminding me of a more peaceful perspective.

I let the spider continue on his journey...
