Hope Dies

Cold, unforgiving eyes
tell me you are dangerous-
a threat to my life.
I was warned,
by family and friends.

I didn't listen.

I thought you would change.

You said you would.

Our "love" has become a cruel joke.
Your rage manifests itself
in bruises and broken bones-
mine.

My dreams of our future
are shattering,
lost in my screams.

My hope buried in despair.

My light is fading.

I don't care anymore.
