For Amanda
This is the only good poem I have ever written that doesn't rhyme.

Goodbye sweet one
He has sent you love as sonnets, a book to be read
My decaying rose petals scatter to the wind
He offers you the sun; rising, setting at your command
My sliver of moon cannot uncover a pale face in the darkness
Together you will dance on the beach
I shall watch from the ocean
As sleep overtakes your Sapphic body, beauty now in his possession
I shall gaze on you from the stars
He had His heart to give
My soul was not enough.
