When did I move indoors?
When did I abandon the sky To watch the weather And count the stars On television? When did I quit the earth? When did I forsake the frosty dawn, Vagrant fog and rising breath, For Starbucks and stoplights? When did I silence the song? When did the sound of wind in the trees, The river singing in the canyon, Yield to the drone of talk radio? Did I succumb without a struggle? Did I sell myself for a soft bed And a microwave? Did I go without a whimper?
