Obtaining the new American Dream
Begins with coffee, sugar, and cream Quietly punch in on the time clock Then drift with the freedoms of country or rock A half hour lunch break to help keep you sane From a forty hour work week of the mindless mundane Resume the position for the afternoon Your time in the machine will be over soon Punched out again for yet another shift done Knowing works end means your day has begun Drive the car home to a subdivided lot Trying to remember the life you forgot Eat dinner, watch t.v., then go to bed The only dreams you live are those inside your head
