Sorrow

Sorrow

On that dark and lonesome morn
When Sorrow strolled my way
Like a prodigal leaving home
He brushed the joy away

He did not come to haggle
Nor was I enamored by his clop
For he sought to depose my faith
With a modest little swap

I cursed his sudden appearance
For it threw me in disarray
But O how much I grew
When Sorrow walked my way

I do not look for Sorrow
His road I dare not trod
But it was his gentle urging
That drew me close to God
