The Path

Don't stray the path
they said.
Tread where all before you
have tread.
Yet, she wandered.
A little from the path,
a little farther.
The deeper into the belly
of the forest,
the more wonders she beheld.
Serenity wrapped around her like
a comforting quilt
on a cold winter's night.
Losing herself in the forest,
she found herself.
Don't stray the path,
they said.
She merely smiles the smile
of one who
has discovered they were
misleading her.
