~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Where the Children Rule   On Knee-flay, the children all rule their own world. They come from at least five dozen galaxies, And dwell there a time, or so I have heard, Doing exactly whatever they please. Those kids often have an endless vacation, Twenty days in a row and then they take more, And all of their school days have no multiplication. Nor must they learn the square root of four. I thought it’d be fun no adults’ stern demands. For then you could play and not go to bed. I thought they were lucky – but they say that it’s bland, And with no one to cook, they rarely get fed. In fact, they all told me it’s really a bore. For after two weeks there's nothing to do. But the strangest thing is - they all beg for chores. And by their teens, most of them are truly blue. Just as soon as they’re grown, they lift off and go, Not wanting to remain where the books are so few, Where no one explains, and where brains never grow. So I guess that I’m lucky - I've got homework to do. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
