TRAVELER
Traveler, trudging uphill, Without ray of light to show, You know not from whence you came, Nor where you’re destined to go. In the dark and hazy paths You are lost in wilderness; No shade or shelter in sight, All around, barren morass. Traveler, don’t lose your heart, Tired and lonely though you are? Don’t lose your faith even though Called by temptation you are. Long ago a traveler, Tread a thorny uphill path, Carrying on shoulder a cross, Followed by a mob in wrath. In silence he bore his pain Without murmur or complaint, Though nailed he was to the cross, On which, thirsty, did he faint. He died on the cross but his Spirit was truly hallowed. In his death, he was reborn, And to us a path he showed. Traveler, follow that path Of true love and tolerance. Be kind to one and to all And observe true forbearance. Traveler, have faith in Him, Move along the path He showed. A day will truly come when, By Him you will be bestowed. * Written in abcb 7-7-7-7 format M C Gupta 24 April, 2004
