I see the rain
Lydia Davidson

I see the rain;
I hear the li'l drops fall
O where do they come from
over hill and high wall.

The trees that live in the green wood
the little summer grass
all seem to welcome merrily
the rain that falls alas!

The clouds that come up yonder
who holds them way up high?
they bring the soothing water
that falls down from the sky.

And so the rain drops falling
feed the green grass new
they fall upon them pit-pat
and give them life a new.

Although it is so pleasant
to watch the rain fall by
I am afraid I have to go
for mother calls; good-bye.
