She, He, His, and Her
Read the following sentence… Bobby watched Tommy as he tied his shoes. Hmmm… Was Tommy tying Bobby’s shoes or his own shoes? Maybe Bobby was tying Tommy’s shoes. Perhaps a clearer sentence would read… Bobby fumbled with his shoelaces as Tommy watched through the keyhole. Now it’s your turn! I. Rewrite the following sentences… 1. Sally gave her sister her sandwich. (Did Sally give her sister Sally’s sandwich or her sister’s sandwich?) 2. Beth tried to give Emma her bottle. (Whose bottle is it, assuming both girls are the same age?) II.Write a short story about two children of the same gender. And watch out for those she, he, his, and her words! Have fun!
