Flair For Writing Issue 20
Editor:Megan Rose Princess Megan Rose 10 Years
Assistant Editor:Angel Angel

Hi Everyone! Megan and Angel here. Wow! Angel did a super job on last month's newsletter about Jesus. That was beautiful!

This month we will be talking about Mother's Day. Angel's mother has been sick but she enjoys spending time with Angel and Angel has a special bond with her mother and son.Angel is a very loving and special person. Mother's Day is a precious way to remember your mother. I love my mother and we have spent a lot of time shopping and going to the library. We do rubber stamping together. My son Jason takes me out for dinner and a movie every Mother's Day. I have a special bond with my son and mother. I will be buying my mother a rose corsage to wear to Church and I bought her a journal of a Mother's Legacy To Her Children and she will fill it out and give it back to me of the special memories she would like to share with me. I have written two such journals for my son. The one he really loved and it made him smile and feel special. The other one I will give to him later. I am making an Alice Cooper Scrapbook for him as a surprise. Where would I be without my mother and my son?

In the US, Mother's Day is a holiday celebrated on the second Sunday in May. It is a day when children honor their mothers with cards, gifts and flowers. It was first observed in 1907 based on suggestions by Julia Ward Howe in 1872 and Anna Jarvis in 1907.

In England in the 1600's, there was an annual observance called "Mothering Sunday." Servants were encouraged on this day to go home and honor their mothers. They bought a special cake for the occassion.

In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson made the official announcement proclaiming Mother's Day a national observance that was to be held on each year on the second Sunday of May. This was due to Anna Jarvis' letters to ministers, businessmen and politicians. Her mother had died and she wanted a special day to remember her mother and everyone's mother as well. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL!

WynLovesToWrite! , a lovely, talented writer submitted the following about her mother:

Hi!
My Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and beat it but we just recently discovered that while her breast is cancer free, the cancer has spread to her liver and possibly her bones. She is only 58 years old and my very best friend. My most fondest memory of my Mom goes back to when I was still living at home. She and I would get up early on Saturday mornings before anyone else in the house was up and depending on the time of year, we would sit at the kitchen table and drink either hot chocolate or hot tea together. We would just sit and talk about anything and everything. I treasure those memories. I hope and pray that she will beat this cancer so that we will be able to spend more time like these together again.

We hope so, too, Wyn. God bless you. Thanks for sharing.
