Walking In Your footsteps

Walking in Your footsteps is the path I want to take,
The road is rough and stony, but I'll do it for Your sake.
Help me see the reason for the thorns along the way,
And hold me when I stumble, Lord, I daily hope and pray.

You have all the answers to my worry and my strife,
Make my eyes be opened to Your plan for my poor life.
May I accept the sorrows that are strewn before my feet,
And trust in Your great love for me, so strong and yet so sweet.

Let Your footsteps smooth the path and guide my way today,
That I may obey Your will in all I do and say,
So, if my footsteps follow Yours, and stay both straight and true,
Then those who follow after me will also follow You.
