The Unheard Voice
A poem about abortion written for a religion class.

On the day you made me, you didn't think I'd come,
Then you found me in you, and I felt you go numb.
As I lay there, confused, I wondered why you cried;
Emotions scattered through you when you thought of me, inside.

Where were we going? Through those doors, a big white room;
I'm not ready to come out now, I'm leaving you too soon.
You lay there and you live out a nightmare, a bad dream;
I don't know where I'm going; you feel my silent scream.

Did I look like him or you? I guess we'll never know.
Why don't you want me with you? Why did you make me go?
You know you killed me, Mommy; the world I'll never see;
Is it better off this way, since you couldn't love me?
