They watch your hair grow thin. They watch your body grow frail From the poisons they drip into your veins. They watch your doctor's reports And your white counts. I watch the light in your eyes That never dims or fails. They see radiation appointments. They see arrangements and payments; Nurses to hire, transportation to organize. They see lab results, nutritional plans, And input / output charts. I see a spirit--strong, determined, And full of glorious, unshakeable faith. They hope for the doctor's all clear. They hope for you to gain strength, And that you will beat this foe. They hope for you to be well again, Living many, joyous years. I hope to someday have your grace-- To be half the woman you are. You are my hero.
