One Love’s Casualties

A forbidden romance emerged at night,
Their secret affair was not meant to be.
He took the queen from her king’s sight,
His hasty actions led to tragedy.

This young prince was from a distant shore,
To his home was where they fled.
Launching enemy ships and a great war,
For their love much blood was shed.

Heir to Troy, he chose life and love,
Despite his promise to fight to the death.
His brother took his place above,
All hope vanished with his last breath.

The enemy prevailed and Troy was lost.
Their love endured, but at what cost?
