Seashell Song Sea for swimming, nets for shrimping, Children laughing, out of school, Stripy deckchairs on the seashore, Sun and sand and rocky pool. Build a castle, ringed with pebbles, Buy an ice-cream, sail a boat, Candyfloss and toffee-apples, Through the carefree days we float. With our spades we dig a tunnel, Grains of sand between our toes, Gather seashells in a bucket, And the memory, homeward goes. Later on, when days are rainy, And the skies are dark and drear, We will hold the shells, and listen To the ocean's roar we hear. All at once we are reminded By the shells, picked in the bay, Of the Summer's golden sunshine And that lovely seaside day. ![]()
