MIDNIGHT STARS
As I scan the midnight stars I look for the one, my own; That which shone for me on earth But now beckons far above. Are you the one winking bright, That reminds me of your smile; In your own subtle manner, Sending love from far above? Or, the one that shyly blinks, Avoiding my searching gaze; Like a dove, gentle and meek, Watching me from far above? Or, the one that always stays All the time in the same place So that I lose not my path, Guiding me from far above? My love radiates from which Of the stars I do not know But I know that though not here, She is up there, far above. * Written 7 syllables per line. M C Gupta 29 May 2004
