Out of the Ordinary

This is the story of ordinary people fighting to survive extraordinary circumstances.

One such woman, Aislinn O'Connell, finds herself at the center of a brutal hostage-taking purely by the accident of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. A popular suburban supermarket is suddenly stormed by a radical, well armed and well prepared group of men, acting in a coordinated strike with others of their kind across the country, they aim to begin a revolution. These men represent a growing number who have come to believe that their government has forgotten them, that modern society has become sick and depraved, and that there is no choice but destroy all and rebuild again.

An undercover government agent, John Starke, has been assigned to monitor this group, and has been doing so for some months. On this particular day, he has followed a suspected member of the force to the market, his instincts shouting that something is about to happen. When it does, John, like the rest, is unable to offer any resistance as the attack unfolds.

As the situation becomes more dangerous, John and Aislinn are drawn together, fighting to survive the towering hatred of the group and their leader, Curtis. He is clear and unflinching in his mission, driven by his hatred for the weak, pampered masses. Of Starke he is immediately suspicious, and Aislinn stands as a living reminder of all that is wrong with the world, all that must be destroyed. His hatred is blind and unflinching.

At last, a final assault is launched by the authorities, determined to crush the force on the spot. Kept apart from the other hostages, John recognizes what is happening and leads Aislinn out, intent on escape. Retaken when he turns back to rescue her, he carries an unconscious Aislinn out of the inferno, under the watchful eyes and unwavering guns of the two surviving rebels. Amidst the chaos and confusion, they slip unnoticed from the scene, leaving the authorities to believe them dead.

Alone and without any hope of rescue, the two face an uncertain future once they reach the isolated and brutal rebel camp. Despised by the men and the families of the nearby town, they are left to suffer and struggle in a place where everything they know and love is despised. Instinct, age-old and unending, comes to their aid then, keeping them fighting the dark, sinister plans the rebels have for the next phase of their revolution.
