A Note for Loggins & Messina
Loggins & Messina made it happen, remembering tonight. . .

We had some friends
Who sang your songs
At some local clubs
We four went along, with
My first love and I.

Tonight at 2 AM
Those songs came back,
Finally driving me from my bed
After some remembering lack about
My first love and I.

Together only six years,
But so much good music, like
My first love and I.

I close my eyes to see
Bruce and Lester
(Counterparts in my life to thee)
Center stage at Holiday Inn, singing along
With Pam and Paul, at our table of friends, with
my first love and I.

We lived your songs,
As we sang along:
"Watching the River Run,"
With a "Long Tail Cat,"
From the "House at Pooh Corner;"
Believing in the words of "Danny's Song,"
The harmonies in "Peace of Mind."
We gave to each other, love,
My first love and I.

But we got the "Traveling Blues."
Both found a new place to rest our shoes
Going our separate ways,
Until word traveled back:

He comitted suicide.

"Angry Eyes," too angry
At the cold cruel world
All these years later.
My first love and I,
Are still together
In my mind tonight,
And Loggins and Messina sing,
From an old vinyl lp record, and
I remember precious things.

"I'd be so happy to know that you're alive."

Thanks for the memories' soundtrack,
For Kenny & Jim.
