What can be said of these Vampires? Vampires of the past were born from myths and superstition, but our modern minds tell us we need a more logical explanation for their being. So, we point our fingers to science, as we screw around with DNA, polluting our world with God knows what kind of toxic wastes and those wonderful meltdowns at nuclear sites have got to be altering our genetics in some fashion. Or could it be that Vampires are the next step on the evolutionary chart? I shudder to think.
Still, we are left to ponder on alien life forms. It is always possible that our neighbors on Mars, ever elusive to our eyes simply because of the sun we share, may well be Vampires of a sort.
So, are we still going to welcome back our space age explorers returning from their Mars expedition with a ticker tape parade or ash stakes and crucifixes?
All I can say is this, let your imagination take you there. You'll probably scare the heck outta yourself.
