Or So I Figure

Forever is a long time, or so I figure.
What would you do with eternity?
Build a Lego castle with indoor plumbing?
Make an entire town out of grilled cheese
complete with working streetlights?
I don't suppose cheese conducts electricity
but maybe it would eventually turn green.

Would life become dull after a couple millennia?
With nothing new beneath the hot face of the sun,
would you sleep hoping your dreams
prove more interesting than reality?

Truth is - forever's only attainable after death.
What then? How will death taste?
Sweet? Bitter? Don't believe in death?
Gonna try to live forever?
Good luck with that.

I, on the other hand, will go when it's time,
settle in my cheesy little Lego mansion,
whistle while I mow the moldy lawn,
and take tea and cake with the Almighty every thousand years -
or, should I say, every afternoon -
because that's how it is with forever,
or so I figure.
