a hockey player wonders about a cute fan

Who is this girl looking constantly at me
         with such sexy, startling intensity?
Why, when her eyes look deep into mine with hurt,
does it feel like fingers unbuttoning my shirt?
How from high heaven did this angel find me
or is she just eyeing someone behind me?

I've memorized the color and shape of her hair
and I've been looking, but she's no longer there.
Will I ever see her face again someday
or like a dream will she fade away?
Why me? Surely, next to my teammates I am underrated.
Why now that circumstance contrives to keep us separated?

I never thought my heart could sink
after a road win in a hockey rink.
