Champagne Memories
Champagne memories Beer bubbled life Clouded through the roundness A seeming joy through strife. Shrouded, darkened bottles Stacked against the wall, A billion bubbles later The fortress takes a fall. In drunken desperation In flight of stumbling shrew, A call to end the madness, To halt the lust for brew! Every morning head on fire A swear to quit to day! Every evening resolution Tomorrow be the way! At last the lust came screaming, Bursting to a halt, Final determination To end the ale and malt! Admission to a wise man A counselor, so to speak, Caused to finally end the madness And turn the other cheek. I stopped right then and there Not more a drop to drink Now my daily dose of bubbles Aerates from the kitchen sink! BB 11-21-01
