Ode to a Preschooler She’s the Queen of Mean- Her scream’s obscene; Cutting words Are her routine. Her nasty ways Cut and demean- She’s a shrieking, Screeching guillotine. The Bear of Glare- Her wrath beware, Her dagger glance Can cut and tear. They run away And play elsewhere. The banshee screams, “It is not fair!” The Crone of Drone- Her fits full-blown, Her insults slash, Berate, intone, Until she’s left To gripe alone. “They’re leaving me out!” The ogre moans. The Shrine of Whine- Her words malign Until I think I’ll lose my mind. Her biting plaints Just grate and grind. I’ve met my match- But can’t resign! 2nd Place in Mommy4Life's Weekly Write Contest, July 2004 This poem is proud to be Lighthouse Number Four in
