JANET GUSTIN: Wife of Kevin WALT MULLEN: Head operator in the Tank Farm STEVE NOON: #2 operator in the Tank Farm JAVIER WATSON: Railcar loader SHERRY WHITE: Scale Master RALPH: Security DARWIN BENNETT: Head operator in the Crude Unit JACK CLARK: Darwin's #2 operator ERIC TAYLOR: Board operator RUDY DIAZ: Crews sampler DAN CAMBELL: Night Supervisor BIG RED: Truck driver MIQUEL & RAYMOND: Pump Mechanics WILSON: Lab tech. TANK FARM FADE IN: EXT. SPACE - NIGHT Across the screen a roll up appears: In a Galaxy light years away, a planet infested with evil entities, take to space every century to visit new planets. Their goals are for one purpose only. To destroy and kill the creatures of the visiting world, for their fun and entertainment only. CUT TO: FADE IN: EXT. SPACE - EARTH TIME - DAY A bluish-green vapor cloud is heading towards Earth's outer atmosphere. Its waves bounce through the ozone layer. SMASH CUT: INT. KITCHEN - DAY KEVIN GUSTIN walks into the kitchen wearing his blue coveralls. He is thin man with wavy brown hair and thin mustache. Stands around five foot ten. His pregnant wife, JANET, who is a few inches taller, with black hair and some silver high lighting streaks, places a sandwich and bottled tea into his pack. Kevin kisses her on the cheek and sits at the counter that separates the small kitchen and the dinning room. Kevin is sitting on the dinning room side while Janet is on the opposite side of the counter, in the kitchen. KEVIN One more night and I'll be off for three days. Kevin raises his arms over his head, in relief. KEVIN Any plans for us? JANET Not really. My dad called last night. KEVIN Let's not get into this right now. I'm not a good salesman. I don't even like salesmen, and you expect me to be one. I wouldn't be happy stuck inside a small cubical for eight hours a day. JANET That's just it. You would be working only eight hours, not twelve hours like you do now. Plus, you would be home nights with your wife and newborn. Where you belong. JANET My dad will teach you everything you need to know. And you two like each other. The Refinery is just too dangerous...you have a family to think about now. KEVIN I am thinking about the family. I would be miserable working at the dealer's. JANET You need to be home nights once our baby is here. Is work more important than your family, Kevin? KEVIN It's not like that. Kevin grabs his pack. KEVIN We'll talk about this later! Kevin walks out the front door. Janet follows. JANET You'll work with my dad, or we are leaving. Is that what you want? She holds one hand to her stomach. The other hand slams the door. SMASH CUT: INT. HOME OFFICE - DAY WALT MULLEN sits at his desk in his office. He calls it his bunker room. Two of the walls are wood paneled. The other two are a dark green. On one of the paneled walls, he has his military medals and citations hanging, along with his plaques. Walt's hair cut is of a military style, flat top. He has a foo-man-chu mustache. He is a little over weight for his height of five-foot seven. He opens the five prescription bottles in front of him and places a couple of pills from each bottle into his pill box. He pops some into his mouth and washes them down with a diet coke. He drinks his coke starring at his medals and citations that are hanging on the wall. There are bronze stars, certificates of appreciation (signed by Richard Nixon), army commendation medals and more. WALT Fuckin' war. SMASH CUT: EXT. BACK PORCH - DAY JAVIER WATSON is on his home gym, bench pressing with the weights. The backyard patio is made out of wood, and has wooden slats running across the top, but is open between the slats. The back door opens and his wife pops her head out. WIFE It's about that time. Javier sets the weights down on the bar. JAVIER Thank you, my lady. Javier is a small Mexican American, but stocky from weight lifting. Sitting on the bench, he wipes his forehead with the towel. Grabs a bottled water from the concrete floor, takes a drink, then pours the rest over his head. SMASH CUT: INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY STEVE NOON sits back on his couch, talking to his mother on the phone. The room is cluttered with magazines and newspapers on the floor, chairs and table. Steve is tall and with his long hair, looks like Howard Stern. NOON What are you going to do now, mother? Punish me like when I was small? You and father going to go through your fuckin rituals again. Those days are gone, bitch! You piss on your fucked up husband's face now. He'll like it. You're both a bunch of crazy ass fucks! Steve Noon throws the phone down hard, knocking it off the couch. He kicks over the coffee table in front of him. NOON Sick bastards. SMASH CUT: INT. DOORWAY - DAY SHERRY WHITE passionately kisses her girlfriend goodbye. LAURIE stands about four foot ten, with jet black hair. Sherry's head is shaved clean, which seems to go with her hour glass shape. SHERRY You get those batteries charged up in our toys. We have three days and nights to catch up on. LAURIE I'm going to get some smoke that will put us in our own lust-filled world. They kiss again. A neighbor walking down the hall gives the ladies a look of disgust. They both chuckle. SMASH CUT: TANK FARM - DAY Two maintenance men are working jointly at a rapid pace on a pump between two large storage tanks. MIGUEL No way will we finish this by five o'clock. And they aren't going to pay us overtime, ese. RAYMOND removes his hard hat and wipes the sweat off his forehead with his forearm. RAYMOND Mucho trabajo! Raymond gets up and sits on the back of their work cart. RAYMOND We both don't need to be here. Take off, vete. I'll just finish putting in the packing. Manana we'll be ahead of the game. Miguel hurries to pick up his tools and places them on the cart. MIGUEL I'll leave the cart here for you. RAYMOND No, take it. I just need the packing and my tool belt. Need to see the operators before I go...it's faster walking through the tank farm. MIGUEL Gracias! See ya manana Ray. RAYMOND Don't forget to lock up the cart before leaving. MIGUEL Si, I won't forget. Miguel jumps into the cart and backs up slowly to avoid running into one of the storage tanks. Turns the handle to "forward" and vanishes around the tank. CUT TO: EXT. TANK FARM - DAY The bluish-green mist floats over the storage tanks. A crow flies into the cloud. Inside the mist, a hellish electrical storm is taking place. Electrical charges are producing massive fork lightning strokes inside. The crow shoots out from the mist. It gains control of its flight a few tanks away. The mist drifts slowly down behind the storage tank, next to Raymond. CUT TO: EXT. TANK FARM - DAY Raymond is placing the packing into the pump and hears a hissing sound around the far end of the tank. He gets up to investigate, still holding a screw driver. CUT TO: EXT. TANK FARM -DAY He walks around the tank and stumbles back at the sight in front of him. The air between the two tanks has a greenish film to it. An enormous, grotesque leech-like worm stands in the middle of it. Raymond makes the sign of the cross, at the same time, appendages fly out from the creature, wrapping themselves around Raymond. Raymond starts stabbing the demon's arms with the screw driver. A yellowish-green substance squirts out all over Raymond and he begins screaming for Miguel. The talons tighten around Raymond's chest. Crushing it with great force. Raymond's body falls forward into the green mist, which is moving under the rows of piping. It drags Raymond with it, beneath the pipes. SMASH CUT: INT. CONTROL ROOM - DAY Kevin sits at his desk reading the passbook from the previous team which just left. Walt is explaining the nightly orders to his number two operator, Steve Noon. Kevin listens as Steve complains. Kevin can feel Steve's anger. NOON What the fuck did they do today? Noon answers his own question. NOON Nothing is what. This is bullshit! WALT Twenty-four operation here, Steve. We do what we can in the twelve hours we are here. What we can't finish, the next crew will take over. You've been here long enough to know that. KEVIN (V.O.) (to himself) I'm glad Walt is here. I like Walt. Even with his PTSD and his feelings on the management. I sure can't say the same about Steve Noon. He makes me feel uneasy. Javier Watson, the rookie on B-team, walks out from the lunchroom with a hot cup of java in his hand. JAVIER Just made some high octane coffee back there. Javier places the cup on Kevin's desk and pulls up a chair from the south wall. JAVIER What do they have for us tonight, Mr. Kev? KEVIN Looks like you may be loading rail cars tonight. He riffles through the paperwork on the clipboard. KEVIN I don't see the manifest here. We'll have to check with the Scale house. WALT Think I'll take you up on that mud, Javier. Walt gets up and heads to the lunchroom. Steve mumbles something under his breath about the work load, then gives Javier a dirty look. Javier continues to sip his coffee, not saying a word. Steve throws the nightly orders on his desk and walks to the restroom. Javier gets on the phone and calls the Scale house. Walt comes back into the control room with a nod of approval. WALT Good blend there. JAVIER Thank you. Javier gets off the phone and speaks to Kevin. JAVIER Sherry is going to look for the manifest. She says there's a.r. four thousand truck on the scales. Kevin looks at the passbook. KEVIN It's okay, it's in the heater. SHERRY (O.S) Pumpers cummm-inn, pump-her! The crew loves the way Sherry makes her transmissions sound so sexy. Sherry has been working in the Scale house as a weight master for ten years. She is an attractive woman, even with her shaved head and rumors of her being bisexual. SHERRY (O.S) Have an a.r. four thousand truck here guys, are you hot and ready? KEVIN We are my lady. Let him roll. Rack one. (to Javier) I'll finish the heater readings...you can go check the Scales and see if Sherry found the manifest. JAVIER Will do. Can I use the pumper's bike? KEVIN Right on, Javier. CUT TO. EXT. OUTSIDE OF PUMP HOUSE - DAY Javier takes off on the bike. Kevin's looking over at the loading racks. The a.r. four thousand truck is already at the rack, spouted up and loading. Anguish creeps into Kevin when he sees the driver. It's Big Red. A rebellious driver who is always causing trouble with the pumpers. CUT TO. EXT. RACK ONE - DAY Rack number one is one of three truck loading racks north of the pump house. The racks are design for top loading. The loading spouts are ten feet up on a graded platform. There are stairs at both ends of the rack. There is a hydraulic switch to lower the loading ramp down, so the driver can get to the top of his truck. Five feet above the platform is a sheet metal roof covering the rack. Red is a tall man in his thirties, with sunset hair. Just as Kevin fears, Big Red is motioning for him to come over. CUT TO. EXT. HEATERS - DAY Kevin walks over to the three foot brick wall surrounding the two asphalt heaters. he places the clipboard on the wall, then heads to rack one. CUT TO. EXT. RACK ONE - DAY When Kevin gets to the bottom of the stairs, Red starts in on him. BIG RED Get your skinny pumper's butt up here now! Kevin walks slowly up the stairs, watching Red's every move. Red is standing out on top of the trucks compartment, looking down into the dome of his truck. BIG RED Come and look at this. I can piss faster than what is coming out of this spout. Put on another pump, so I can get my truck loaded and get out of this shit refinery. Without saying a word, Kevin moves over to the loading spout and slams it shut. BIG RED (shouting) What the hell do you think you're doing, stopping my loading? KEVIN Peedmont has very strict rules about wearing safety equipment while loading. No gear...no product. Kevin wishes his insides were feeling as calm as he sounds. BIG RED This will be reported to my bossman, shithead. Kevin rolls his eyes impatiently at his ignorance. KEVIN Refusing to wear your safety gear while loading is something I would run and tell my boss. Red rushes off the truck and onto the loading ramp. Kevin moves quickly to one side, avoiding Red. BIG RED (talking as he runs down the stairs) My hat and safety glasses are in my cab. When Kevin sees Red bring out his hard hat and glasses, he shoves the valve back open. KEVIN You're back in business. Red makes his way up the stairs, Kevin walks to the opposite end and moves down the stairs, avoiding anymore contact with the mad trucker. CUT TO: INT. SCALE HOUSE - DAY The entrance of the scale house has a small area, where the truck drivers wait while their truck is being weighed. The main office is fully enclosed with glass. There is a counter top that runs around the sides and front of the office. Javier stands in the small waiting area of the Scale house. A Dutch door separates this from the main office area. The top half of the door is open. Javier is watching Sherry as she tries to find the rail car manifest. Sherry is the only one working in the refinery not required to wear Nomax coveralls, since she stays in the office all shift. In her tight Levis and tee shirt, she is looking hot. Javier is intrigued by Sherry White. He thinks it may have to do with her shaved head and rumors of her being bisexual. SHERRY (leafing through a stack of papers) I know I saw it somewhere. Javier leans on the bottom half of the closed door, looking around the office. Papers are scattered all over the counters everywhere. SHERRY (relieved) Here it is! Sherry hands the manifest over. SHERRY How are you doing out there? JAVIER Great. Going to try and get some training in with Kev after the loading the rail cars. Sherry rubs his arm. SHERRY You got the best one there to train you. JAVIER I think so, too. CUT TO. EXT. ASPHALT HEATERS - DAY Kevin is taking readings off the pressure and temperature gauges under the two asphalt heaters. These two heaters stand on concrete pillars, six feet high. The heaters themselves are over fifty feet high. The tubes inside have asphalt circulating through the heaters to heat up the product to four hundred degrees. SHERRY (O.S) Kevin, cummm-in baby. Kevin leans against the brick wall and speaks into the mic. KEVIN Go ahead, scales. SHERRY (O.S) Red is overloaded. Pump off at rack 16 KEVIN Roger that. Rack sixteen. Kevin heads back toward the pump house. CUT TO. EXT. RACK SIXTEEN - DAY Big Red's truck turns left off the main roadway onto a dirt road where large storage tanks occupy a large part of the refinery. Red pulls up onto a cement slab, trying to line up the off-loading hoses to his truck's fittings. Red jumps out from the cab and before closing the door, he throws his safety gear into the cab. BIG RED Screw those damn pumpers. While hooking up one of the hoses, he gets a whiff of something awful. BIG RED Damn idiots are killing us with these toxic fumes. Red grins from ear to ear. BIG RED A great potential here for a lawsuit. A.Q.M.D. will be interested in this shit. Red looks around, making sure no one is around. He walks around the right side of a large white tank. Red can smell the stench getting stronger. CUT TO. EXT. TANK FARM - DAY Red reaches the opposite side of the tank. There are more tanks in front of him, and pipes just a few feet above ground, branching off in many directions. Red steps up on the pipes and straddles two pipes. He uses small shuffling steps to move down the pipes. Red sees movement beneath the pipes up ahead. BIG RED There it is. He gets down on his hands and knees and starts scooting closer to the mist under the pipes. The rotting odor stops Red. The fumes are bluish-green. It begins to move in Red's direction. Sweat begins to build on his forehead. The smell is making Red feel sick. Behind Red, protruding out of the mist, is a long, slimy leech-like worm. It slithers along the pipe towards Red. The fumes become too strong, so Red starts to move backwards. Red lets out a loud scream as the the worm wraps itself around his foot and crushes it with incredible force. It drags his leg into the mist. As Red tries to get his leg out, another worm pops up in front of his face. It opens up like a flytrap and sprays out a thick brown liquid with small worms crawling in it. The brown slime completely covers Red's face. He pukes out a large glob of it, gasping for air. Red collapses on the pipes. Then as fast as a blink of an eye, Red is pulled under the pipes and into the mist. CUT TO: INT. CONTROL ROOM - DAY Walt's at his desk, looking at the tank levels and movements on his computer screen. Kevin is behind him, finishing the heater readings from the control panel when Steve comes out from the back hallway with a flashlight in hand. NOON (looking at Walt) Yeah that's right...it will be dark by the time I make it back. WALT Before you leave, did you read the orders on tank fifty thousand eight? NOON Tank twenty thousand seven is pumping over there now. WALT Right, but they also want tank fifty thousand seven pumping over at the same time. Steve slams his hard hat down on his desk, causing Kevin to jump. NOON (defiant and disgusted) All the fuck that will do is slow down the twenty thousand seven transfer. Hell, lets finish pumping... Walt cuts Steve off short. WALT Listen Steve, I didn't write these orders. I have no idea why they want us pumping both tanks at the same time. Maybe they need these two tanks to blend together into fifty thousand eight. I don't know...but what I do know is, I don't want to be getting a call tomorrow morning from the Area Manager, asking me why I didn't follow the nightly orders. Steve grabs his hard hat and straight arms the door on his way out. Kevin places the clipboard on his desk and sits down. KEVIN I'm glad you're the head operator. I don't think I could handle that psycho. WALT Don't cut yourself short...you will make a good head operator. KEVIN I don't think I'll be working here long enough to find out. WALT You're not planning to quit on me now, are you? KEVIN I love this job...it's my wife. She thinks it's too dangerous. Wants me to be a salesman, working in a car dealership with her dad. WALT I hate sales people. Anyway it's more dangerous driving to and from work. WALT Hey, I'm getting a Coke from the fridge. Brought extras, would you like one? They're diet. KEVIN No thanks, Walt. WALT (V.O.) (in back room) I used to hate the taste of diet, but my doctor says if I have to drink sodas, drink diet. Well now I couldn't go back to the regulars if I had to...they're too sweet tasting. Plus I love the taste of aspartame. Need the aspartame all around my brain. KEVIN Your starting to sound like a nut case yourself back there. WALT (V.O.) According to the VA, I am. That reminds me, I must take my meds now. Walt walks into the control room with a diet coke in his hand. He walks over to the base radio up against the north wall. The clock on the wall reads seven o'clock pm. Walt speaks into the stand-up mic. WALT Steve. Come-in, Steve. NOON (O.S) Speak to me. WALT Steve, you can line up tank twenty-five thousand five for the gasoline blend. Silence. WALT You copy? NOON (O.S) I'll put it on my list. I can only do one thing at at a time. JAVIER (disguising voice) That's what she said! Back door opens. The refinery sounds can be heard filtering through the back. Sounds of loud horns blowing, alarms ringing, and the banging coming from the water hammer in the pipes. The Night Supervisor, DAN CAMBELL enters the control room. He is a big and rugged. A Davey Crocket type. DAN Gentlemen, Steve out of control again? WALT No more than usual. DAN Call me if he gets beyond that point. Dan picks up the time sheet hanging on the South wall and signs it. The reason I'm down here so early is we have a new security guard tonight and he's already locked his keys in his locker. Gotta get back up there. WALT Sounds like Peedmont material to me. DAN He's a spooky one. By the way, have any of you seen Raymond Flores? His wife called, says he hasn't made it home yet. WALT No, Kevin? KEVIN Haven't seen him in the tank farm. DAN Okay, if you do hear from him...tell him to call home, his wife is worried. Dan leaves. SHERRY (O.S.) Cummm-innn, Kev, babe. Walt and Kevin both grin. KEVIN Go ahead Sherry. SHERRY (O.S.) If you get time, can you check on Red? He hasn't came back from rack 16 yet. KEVIN I'll check on him right now. SHERRY (O.S.) Thank you babe. WALT Is she talking about Big Red? KEVIN The one and only. WALT I thought for sure he would have been fired by that truck Company by now. He caused a lot of trouble when I was an asphalt pumper. KEVIN He still does. WALT Come on...we'll take the cart. Kevin gets up, pulling his radio out of his holster and removes the battery, replacing it with a fresh one from the charger. CUT TO. EXT. PUMP HOUSE - DAY Walt and Kevin walk over to the orange Taylor Dunn electric cart. Walt removes the extension cord and hangs it over the fire hydrant. WALT Lets roll! CUT TO. EXT. MAIN ROADWAY - DAY Overlooking the main roadway, the cart moves down the road. At the crossroads, the cart is seen turning right. A little further down, they pull behind a semi- truck. CUT TO. EXT. BACK ROADWAY - DAY WALT Could be sleeping in the cab? Walk knocks on the cab's door. Kevin checks out the rack. Hearing nothing, Walt opens the door, only to see the hard hat and safety glasses lying on the driver's seat. Walt stares out in the Tank Farm. WALT (to himself) Where are you, big guy? KEVIN I better disconnect our off-loading hose from his truck. WALT Good idea. When we get back to the control room, I'll call Sherry...tell her to call Red's dispatcher to have someone come out and pick up their truck from our rack. Maybe this time they'll do something about this guy. KEVIN I sure hope so. In the cart, Walt steps on the accelerator, making a sharp u-turn, heading back towards the crossroads. Walt hits the brakes. KEVIN You see Red? WALT Another problem child. Walt points in the direction of the gasoline tanks on the other side of the crossroads. CUT TO. EXT TANK FARM - DAY Steve is walking the firewall. He shoots both arms straight up in the air, then back down and up again. Steve is shouting something but Kevin and Walt are too far to hear what he is saying. They continue watching Steve until he walks down the stairs and is out of sight. EXT. TANK FARM - NIGHT Steve opens a valve on a gasoline tank. Sweat pours down the sides of his face. The sensor lights come on in the Tank Farm. Steve throws his hard hat up against the large white tank, and then notices a crow perched on top of a lamp post. NOON (talking to the crow) They're all pumpfucks! They can talk about me at the shack...but not out here. (screams) Out here is my place! The crow takes off, swooping down on Steve. He dodges the crow. It lands on the handrail of the stairs that crosses over the firewall. NOON Stupid fuckin birdo. Steve picks up his hat and slowly walks over to the stairs where the crow sits. Much to Steve's surprise, the crow does not move when Steve sits down on the bottom step. He notices some brown fluid dripping from the crow's beak. NOON Are you sick, birdos? You keep hanging around this place, you're going to be deados. The crow caws, takes off and flies towards the asphalt tanks. Steve heads out into the Tank Farm, singing an old Loudon Wainwright the Third song called "Wine with Dinner." NOON (singing) Went downtown to get in trouble, I accomplished that. Had some drinks, flew off the handle, right off of the bat. Oh, drinks before dinner and wine with dinner and after dinner drinks... CUT TO: INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Javier comes over the radio. JAVIER (O.S) Mr. Kev. I got the manifest. Line me up with a.r. four thousand. I'm at the rail car rack now, getting two cars ready to load. KEVIN Okay, roger that. I'll get you lined up. Beep! beep! beep! The continuous blast of horns from the number two heater alarm is loud and ear-piercing in the control room. Kevin jumps up and looks at the heater control panel. The low flow light is on. He pushes the acknowledge button. The blast from the horns stop. Looking at the chart, Kevin sees only one unit of flow registering. KEVIN (panicking) I lost flow on the number two heater. WALT Check out your circulating pump first. Call me if we have to line up another pump. KEVIN Will do. Kevin closes the gas valve shut on the board, then walks out the door. Javier enters the pump house through the back door. He enters the control room where Walt is standing at the heater control panel. JAVIER I heard the horns going off coming over here. What happened? WALT (still looking at the chart) Kevin lost flow on the number two heater. He's checking out the pump. Javier pulls out the manifest from his pocket and places it on Kevin's desk, and walks over to Walt. WALT Something happening now...see the needle jump? JAVIER Yeah, what's it normally set at? WALT Between five and ten units. The alarms go off if it drops below three units. He was showing zero units, but the needle is jumping now from three to five. The needle on the heater chart jumps up to seven units and holds there. WALT He must have found the problem. Walt gets on the base radio. WALT Kevin, you're holding at seven units. KEVIN (O.S) Roger that. Pump is back on. Looks okay, discharge pressure is normal. Walt, I'm going to re-set the safety latch. I'll call you when you can turn the gas back on. WALT Standing by. JAVIER Steve Noon. WALT What about Steve? JAVIER I bet he shut off Kevin's pump. WALT Why would Steve do something like that? JAVIER Steve is Steve. There's no rational thinking when it comes to him. KEVIN (O.S) Okay, Walt, latch it up. Walt turns the gas knob back to auto. WALT Gas is on. KEVIN (O.S) Thank you, Walt. A minute later, Kevin enters the control room. KEVIN Glad that went well. I get nervous when things like that happen. WALT Did you have to re-set the breaker? KEVIN No, the breaker switch didn't trip. So I just went over to the pump, hit the start button and it kicked back on. Javier sits down at Steve's desk. JAVIER I rest my case. KEVIN (looks at Walt) What does he mean? WALT For some reason, Javier thinks Steve shut your pump off. I can't see it. Kevin is watching closely at his units of flow for the number two heater. KEVIN I don't think I've done anything to get him pissed off at me. The control room door flies open, startling all. Steve comes in, sweating. NOON (to Javier) Get the fuck out of my chair, rail car loader. JAVIER Why did you shut off Kevin's pump, asshole? What happens next, happens very fast. Too fast for Walt to get between them. Steve is a blur and on top of Javier before Javier himself even knows what is happening. Steve closes his hands around Javier's neck and lifts him right out of the seat. He shoves Javier up against the gasoline panel board. Javier's face smashes into the control buttons. All the while Steve is screaming. NOON I'll kill you...you motherfuck...don't accuse...I'll kill you, pumpfuck. Walt gets between them, but not before Javier lands a left uppercut to Steve's jaw. Blood flows from Steve's mouth. Kevin backs up against the heater panel. WALT (angry) It's over...back off, Steve. Don't give me any more reason to call the night super in on this. Both of you would be fired, guaranteed. Steve backs up to his desk. Javier moves next to Kevin. WALT Javier, have a seat at Kevin's desk. Steve, outside. CUT TO. EXT. OUTSIDE OF PUMP HOUSE - NIGHT WALT What the hell were you thinking, Steve? Steve spits out blood, wipes his mouth with his arm. NOON You heard him accuse me of shutting off Kevin's pump. What fuckin' pump? Fuck this place. I was looking for a job when I found this one. WALT Look, Steve, I don't want either of you two to lose your job over this. Take a walk out in the Tank Farm. Cool off. Steve Noon gives Walt a nod and walks off. CUT TO. INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Javier is rubbing the side of his face. Walt walks in. JAVIER I'm very sorry, Mr. Walt. I didn't think he would go ballistic on me. And I hit him out of self defense. WALT You're right, you didn't think. Now what happened here, stays here. Are we both clear on that? Kevin and Javier speak over each other. JAVIER Yes sir. KEVIN Understood. WALT Javier, stay away from Steve tonight. JAVIER Will do, Mr. Walt Walt sits down at his desk and the phone for the outside line rings. WALT Peedmont refinery, tank farm department. (pause) He's right here. Walt raises his arm behind his head toward Kevin. KEVIN Thanks...hello? Janet is on the other end. She is standing in their living room, facing the television. On the screen is a tank fire from some refinery in Texas. Very bright orange flames shooting up into the night sky with dark smoke billowing out from the flames. JANET (O.S) There's a refinery fire in Texas. KEVIN I suppose you want me to quit right now and come home? JANET (O.S) No, but you can give them your two week notice. I don't want to be a widow with child. There are eight men missing. You know what that means. Eight men dead! KEVIN (pissed) Not necessarily. Look, I can't talk about this right now. JANET (O.S) (upset) Oh we are going to talk or we are going to talk divorce. KEVIN Is that what you really want? I can not talk now. This is not the right time, Janet. Later, when I get home. Bye. Kevin hands the phone to Walt and walks into the lunchroom. KEVIN (walking to lunchroom) There's a refinery fire in Texas, guess I better quit now. Walt and Javier can see that Kevin's upset. WALT Listen, these rail cars don't have to be ready till Monday afternoon, being it's only Friday, why don't you load just two cars then train on the asphalt side with Kevin. Might do both of you some good. JAVIER That would be great. Thanks, Mr. Walt. Walt takes off outside. Kevin enters the control room again with a bottled tea. JAVIER Walt said I can train with you after I load two rail cars. KEVIN (still upset) That will be fine. Kevin sits back down at his desk going over his notes, sipping his tea. JAVIER Mr. Kev, if it ain't too much of a problem...can you tell me how we make asphalt? Kevin places his notes back into his pocket. KEVIN Sure. We receive crude from our pipeline into the storage tanks. From there we pump it to the crude unit. The unit pumps it through a pre-heater which heats up the oil to six hundred degrees. KEVIN From there it is pumped to a distillation tower. See crude is made up of a mixture of hydrocarbons...so they heat the crude in this tower...if you get lost or have a question let me know. JAVIER Will do, Mr. Kev. Javier is happy to see Kevin beginning to calm down. KEVIN At different sections of the tower, the crude is heated at different temperatures. Different products boil off at different temperatures...for instance, diesel fuel boils off at five hundred and fifty degrees. Kerosene at four hundred and ten degrees. KEVIN LPG at one hundred and seventy degrees. The less temperature, the lighter the product. Like for gasoline blends. The bottom and highest temps are is the residuals; the asphalt. You with me still? JAVIER Think so. KEVIN I'm not going to get too deep into this tonight. When the product is boiled off, it turns into vapors which is feed through another column, some type of heat exchanger which cools down the vapors so it turns back into a liquid. KEVIN But all you need to know right now is what tanks hold what products and what products are lined to the racks. Plus, I'll teach you how to switch tanks in and out of the heaters at the shipping pumps. JAVIER Sounds great.. I'm ready. Don't want to be a loader all my life...I want to become an operator. KEVIN You will, everything is repetitious around here. Kevin drinks his tea. CUT TO: INT. SCALE HOUSE - NIGHT Steve stands in the staging area, Sherry is talking on the phone. She hangs up and walks over to Steve and opens the bottom section of the Dutch door. SHERRY How's my outlaw operator doing tonight? NOON You smell delicious, Sher. SHERRY (sexy smile) I've been told I taste even better. NOON I bet you do. And I want to taste your taste...so how would you like a tour of the Tank Farm tonight. SHERRY Tonight is perfect. I have no more trucks scheduled in tonight. Sherry places her arms over Steve's shoulders. NOON Oh, you're going to have something coming in tonight. Sherry giggles. SHERRY Will I need coveralls? NOON I'll get those for you. In fact that's all you will need. Understand dear? Sherry lifts up her tee-shirt. Her black bra hugs her breast. SHERRY The bra and panties will go also. NOON That's what I'm talking about. Sherry kisses Steve on the lips. SHERRY My girlfriend is off work tonight. I'll call her. She's getting some dynamite weed. She can bring us a joint. NOON You haven't called her yet! WALT (O.S) Steve. Come in, Steve. Steve moves away from Sherry looking disgusted. NOON Speak to me. WALT (O.S) You can start the gasoline blend up. I have recorded all the numbers on the blending panel. Steve pretends to press down on the mic, switch. NOON Well whoopy-do you logged in some numbers. Maybe next time you can get your lazy veterans ass out of your chair and get out here and twist on some fuckin' valves. Steve does a little jig. WALT (O.S) You copy, Steve? This time he presses down on the mic, switch. NOON Yeah, I copy. SHERRY You're terrible, Steve. NOON That's why you like me baby. Steve does his jig out the door. He walks down the main road and hears the motor of a VW Bug. He turns to look and sees a shiny blue bug pull up to the front of the scale house. NOON (thinking) Must be Sherry's girlfriend. Steve moves quickly to the side of the road and climbs over the firewall to the other side. He removes his hard hat and slowly scoots back up and peeks over the top. Sherry comes out and walks over to the VW. A small- framed woman comes out of the vehicle and hugs Sherry. Steve cringes. NOON Sherry has to be the man in that relationship. The two women begin to kiss. Steve's stomach turns, but something makes him stay and watch. NOON I'm going to make you forget about your girlfriend tonight Sherry. She's looking for something hard, girlfriend. The small woman pulls something out from her jacket pocket. NOON The joint! Steve slides down the firewall and heads off into the asphalt tank farm. CUT TO. EXT.TANK FARM - NIGHT Steve walks in the middle of the main road. At the crossroads, he glances over to the asphalt tanks and sees something floating under the rolls of pipes between the tanks. He heads over to investigate. Steve hears the cawing of the crow. He looks up and sees the crow perched on a steam line, up on the overhead pipe rack. The crow's talons are smoking. NOON Get off that steam line, you stupid fuckin' birdo. Steve picks up a rock and throws it at the crow. Steve's hat falls off. It's a direct hit but the crow does not move. The rock is absorbed by the bird. Steve leaves the bird and hard hat behind. He heads over between the two tanks where the mist is under the pipes. Standing there surrounded by four large asphalt tanks, Steve stares at the bluish-green mist that is now moving out from under the pipes and in his direction. Steve smells raw sewage coming from out of the mist. The mist stops. It changes shape and color, forming into a large diameter circle and is now a thick, dark green slurry. The slurry is stewing and seething right in front of him. NOON (sings softly) Don't go out tonight, it's bound to take your life. There's a bad moon on the rise. Small clumps of dead vegetation are randomly popping up in the circle of slime. Steve does not move, it's as if he's in a trance. In the middle of the bubbling slurry, a hideous stump with over fifty long tentacles slowly comes up to the surface. Some of the tentacles slither out of the boiling pit. They twist and turn moving towards Steve. NOON (coming from pit) Destroy all pumpfucks without retribution. You are you but you may become us. NOON (feeling calm) Yes, I am you...was always you. Some of the tentacles wrap themselves around Steve. The small slits on the tentacles look like toothless mouths. They are secreting a brownish fluid as they open and close. More of these demon arms begin wrapping themselves around Steve. As Steve opens his mouth to say something, a tentacle quickly slips down his throat. They all drag Steve toward the murky slurry. The large stump sinks down into the pit taking its tentacles and Steve down with it. CUT TO: EXT. - NIGHT Walt walks out the back door of the pump house and turns south towards the crude unit. He walks down a cement slab, with rows of pumps on his left and right. The pump at the end (left side) is making a sound as if it is pumping marbles. WALT Crude unit come in, unit. DARWIN BENNETT (O.S) Go ahead, my man. WALT Darwin, your southeast pump on the slab is cavitating. DARWIN (O.S.) Got a man coming out now...you stopping by? WALT I'm at your backdoor, buddy. Walt is close to the building, when a rugged looking man comes walking out. It is JACK CLARK. JACK Thanks, Walt. This pump has been gassing up ever since we came on. Jack continues on towards the pumps. INT. CRUDE UNIT CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Walt enters from the side door and hears: ERIC (V.O.) Crawl for them, boy. DARWIN (V.O.) In yo dreams, punk...Domino! Bam! The slamming down of an ivory cube is heard. Walt walks around the large panel board and into the main room. DARWIN BENNETT sits on one side of the desk, while ERIC TAYLOR sits on the opposite side. RUDY DIAZ, a small man of about 5ft. 4in. stands at the far desk putting pint sample cans into a carrying rack. DARWIN What bees the deal, my brother? Darwin scoops up the green tiles. WALT The usual...Steve is out of control. One truck driver is missing. Left his truck at rack sixteen. Darwin picks up a tile, tossing it in the air. Looks at Walt as he catches it. DARWIN You used to give me some competition as I recall. WALT I learned to quit while behind. DARWIN They come and they go. Darwin looks toward Rudy. DARWIN Where are you going, brother? RUDY It's time to pull the rundown samples. DARWIN No, Eric lost this game...he'll pull the samples. Eric, out of the chair. Rudy, get ya ass in this chair. WALT (to Eric and Rudy) I'll come back sometime, you guys, and tell you some stories about your head operator when he worked over in the Tank Farm department. ERIC Yeah, we would dig that. DARWIN And speaking of the Tank Farm...it sounds like it's falling apart over there. You may want to get your white ass back over there. Walt Laughs. WALT You may be right about that, my brother. Darwin tosses another tile back and forth. DARWIN You know where to find me, if you change your mind. CUT TO: EXT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Looking through the small glass window pane on the north door of the pump houses control room, is a face with very thin brown hair, a balding head and a dazed look in the eyes. CUT TO. INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Kevin comes out from the lunchroom and sees the face looking in and waves him to come on in. The small but heavy-set man walks in. He just stands there but, doesn't say a word. KEVIN Can I help you? SECURITY RALPH I'm your new security guard. My name is RALPH. You can call me security Ralph. KEVIN Okay, security Ralph, you can call me Kevin. They shake hands. SECURITY RALPH The super wants me to go around to all the departments and meet all of you. Haven't met everyone yet. Kevin sits at his desk, looking through the drawers. KEVIN Damn! Ralph, you have access to the front offices, right? SECURITY RALPH I have the keys to the front offices. KEVIN Can you get us a couple of reams of printing paper, the regular size? Ralph salutes. SECURITY RALPH Security Ralph out. Ralph leaves the control room out the north door. Walt comes in through the back door (west). KEVIN I just met our new security guard. I think Dan is right...straight from the twilight zone. Not a bad person just a little out there. WALT Better take my meds. KEVIN No need. He's not like Steve. He's more timid, I would say. WALT No, it's time. In fact it's time to eat. I pack more than I can eat so how about some homemade bean and ham soup? KEVIN Sounds good. I can have it with my sandwich. Hell, now I'm excited to eat. Walt chuckles. WALT I think we are all a little out there. KEVIN What are you trying to say there, Walt? Both men laugh. CUT TO: INT. SCALE HOUSE - NIGHT Sherry takes a long look at Steve as he walks into her office. He looks younger, stronger. His hair looks clean and freshly combed. He carries a pair of coveralls over his left shoulder. NOON This is for you, baby. Steve lays them on Sherry's lap. Sherry grabs both his hands as she sits in her chair. SHERRY (excited) You're looking very hot to me, Steve. I don't get too many chances to have the pleasure of hard meat inside of me. Give it to me hot and hard tonight, ok, baby? NOON I will have you boiling inside tonight. Steve hands Sherry a piece of paper. NOON This is the map to the place we will meet. When you hear me on the radio, saying the famous last words of Gary Gilmore; "LETS DO IT," it will be time. SHERRY I don't know who Gary Gilmore is, but I will be ready, Freddy. Steve kisses Sherry on top of her bald head, then walks out. SHERRY Who was that man? She reaches for the small post-it labels and writes on it:STEVE'S CODE-->LETS DO IT. CUT TO: INT. LUNCH ROOM - NIGHT Kevin and Walt are in the lunch room eating when they hear the front door to the control room open. They hear footsteps then silence. KEVIN We're in the lunch room. Security Ralph walks in with a ream of paper under each arm. KEVIN Alright you pulled it off. SECURITY RALPH (confused) Huh? KEVIN You completed your mission. SECURITY RALPH Oh yeah, there's a whole cabinet full. Walt gets up, taking the paper from Ralph and placing it on the table. WALT My name is Walt. I'm the head operator in this psycho ward. You must be security Ralph. Walt shakes his hand. WALT A pleasure to meet you. SECURITY RALPH You can call me security Ralph. WALT Well security Ralph, how about sharing some homemade soup with Kevin and me? SECURITY RALPH Okay...are there any onions in the soup? WALT I think there may be. I just put in what I can find around the house. Walt grabs a bowl from the cupboard. The soup simmers on the stove. Walt gives Ralph a spoon and a bowl of soup. He picks up the reams of paper and walks into the control room. SECURITY RALPH Thank you...if I see any onions I'll just take them out. WALT (V.O.) You can even take out the lizard heads if you want. SECURITY RALPH (to Kevin) Is he joking, I hope? KEVIN Whatever is in here, it's delicious. Walt comes back in and continues eating. Ralph stirs the soup thoroughly. Walt thinks he's looking for the onions. Kevin knows it's the lizard heads he's looking for. SECURITY RALPH I have to visit the Crude Unit group next. WALT Have you met Sherry yet? SECURITY RALPH (serious look) She makes me feel uneasy. She gets right up next to me when she talks. Touches my arms. WALT You lucky bastard. JAVIER (O.S) Mr. Kev. Ready to load the rail cars. KEVIN Damn, I forgot about him. Kevin gets on his radio. KEVIN Javier, give me a few minutes. I'll get you lined up. JAVIER (O.S) Message received and noted, my friend. WALT Have him come down for some soup. KEVIN Good idea. Kevin has the mic up to his mouth. KEVIN Javier, come down to the pump house. Walt just heated up his homemade soup. JAVIER (O.S) Thank you, I'll be there. CUT TO: EXT. FRONT OF PUMP HOUSE - NIGHT Walt drives towards the pump house in the cart. Kevin is coming back from lining up Javier to load tank cars. He sees Walt approaching and waits outside. Walt pulls up and gets out with an armful of paper. KEVIN I'll get the door. WALT Thanks. I'm beginning to feel more like a secretary than a refinery operator. CUT TO INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Walt tosses the paper on his desk while Kevin moves around to the heater charts, keeping a watch on the flow charts. A loud thud comes from the lunch room. WALT What the hell was that? A rotting decaying voice comes over the radio waves. (O.S.) It's time to rock and roll, PUMPFUCKS! DAN Enough of that on the radio. KEVIN It didn't sound like Steve but that's his favorite word it seems. WALT Lets see what that noise was. CUT TO. INT. LUNCH ROOM - NIGHT Kevin switches on the light in the lunchroom causing the fluorescent lights to flicker before illuminating the room. Right away Kevin notices the ceiling panel partially opened at the far West end of the room. KEVIN Walt, back corner. Both slowly walk up to the opening in the ceiling. They hear noises. Humming and fluttering sounds. WALT What is that noise? KEVIN Rats maybe? WALT Lets move the table over here. They move the lunch table in the corner, right below the opening of the panel. WALT Still not high enough to look in. We need a chair. KEVIN Got it. Walt jumps up on the table. Kevin hands him a chair. WALT Grab my flashlight, it's near the base radio. Walt lines the chair under the opening then steps up on it. Kevin enters the lunchroom, handing Walt his Mag- Lite. WALT Hold the legs of the chair steady. KEVIN Be careful. INT. ATTIC CRAWL SPACE - NIGHT Walt pops his head in the small crawl space. He turns on his flashlight. He sees conduit wires running along the ceiling floor. He points the light down to the west end where the sounds seem to be coming from. Walt sees a large dust cloud. KEVIN (V.O.) Can you see what's up there? WALT Too much dust stirring around up here. WALT (whispers to himself) What is that? The fluttering sounds are getting louder and the dust cloud seems to be moving towards Walt. WALT Hooooly shiiit! Walt quickly ducks his head out of the opening. INT. LUNCH ROOM - NIGHT KEVIN What is it? Walt attempts to slide the panel closed but is too late. The swarm of flying cockroaches flees from its dark hole, knocking Walt off his chair and onto the table. Kevin helps him to his feet. The winged roaches continue to pour out of the opening. WALT (screaming) Out of the room! They make it out, slamming the door shut behind them. Some of the roaches make it out also. A few land on the wall in the hallway. Some land on Kevin's back. Walt slaps the roaches off and they immediately attack Walt's face. He fights them off as they run out the backdoor. EXT. ASPHALT HEATERS - NIGHT They lean up against the three foot brick wall that surrounds the two asphalt heaters. WALT Damn, I've seen weird ass insects in the Nam, but that's expected...we were in a jungle. But this...where in the hell did these things come from? KEVIN I think down in Mexico, where the weather is hot...they could have flying roaches like these, I think. Walt gets on the radio and calls Ralph. SECURITY RALPH (O.S) Security Ralph here. WALT Ralph, we need you to get in the warehouse and bring some bug spray to the Pump house. Bring a case if you can. SECURITY RALPH (O.S) Security Ralph out. KEVIN Maybe we should go with something with a little more punch. WALT Suggesting? Kevin leans back and points to the portable torch in the left corner. WALT As long as we don't burn down the building...that may become plan B. Five minutes pass before the Company jeep is seen coming down the back road heading their way. Ralph drives up to Walt and Kevin. Walt walks over to the passengers side. SECURITY RALPH There's half a case in the back. Kevin takes out the box from the back. KEVIN Thank you, Ralph. Kevin takes the box to the brick wall. SECURITY RALPH You won't need my help, will you? I'd rather not be around bugs. They give me the willies. Walt leans into the jeep. WALT Yeah, we feel the same way about these babies. If this doesn't work...we have plan B. Ralph grins with his lips tightly shut. SECURITY RALPH Good luck, you two. Ralph makes a u-turn and drives back up front. WALT Looks like it's just the two of us, partner. Kevin pulls out two cans from the box and pops off the tops with his thumbs. He twirls the cans in his hands, then holsters them to his side as if he is holding a couple of six shooters. WALT Okay, Billy the Kid, I hope your aim is just as good. Walt grabs two cans also. Drops the caps in the box. CUT TO. INT. HALLWAY - NIGHT They move inside the hallway, at a cautious pace. Walt gets to the lunchroom door and places his ear up against it. KEVIN You hear them? WALT It's quiet, but we go in spraying. Take no prisoners. KEVIN Okay, ready! Walt grabs the handle and lets the door fly open. They both go into the defense attack, spraying and screaming. They both stop. Feeling somewhat foolish. The room is empty. KEVIN Where did they go? WALT Straight to hell, I hope. Walt rushes over to the table and gets back on the chair. Kevin holds the chair legs again. Walt slides the panel closed. Walt gets off the table. NOON Lets do it! WALT I'll put in a work order for maintenance to fumigate up there first thing Monday morning. Better put a note in our passbook to keep that panel shut. CUT TO: EXT. TANK FARM - NIGHT Sherry White walks out of the Scale house wearing only the coveralls Steve gave her. She can feel the night's cold air and shivers as she walks down the main roadway. She gets to the crossroads and veers off to the left. Sherry stops and reads the map again. Map reads: TURN LEFT AT THE CROSSROADS. WHEN YOU GET TO THE FIRST TWO TANKS ON YOUR RIGHT, THE ONES WITH ALUMINUM INSULATION, WALK BETWEEN THEM. ONCE ON THE OTHER SIDE, YOU WILL SEE TWO TANKS IN FRONT OF YOU. WALK OVER TO THE TANK ON YOUR RIGHT. SIT ON THE STAIRS OF THE TANK. BE READY FOR IT! Sherry tears up the note and tosses it into a green trash can on the side of the road. She makes her way over to the rendezvous tank. She sits on the bottom step of the stairs and pulls out a match book and one joint from her top pocket. She strikes the match across the striking pad. A yellowish- blue flame appears at the tip of the match. She takes her first hit, holding it in while gazing out into the night's Tank Farm. She exhales slowly. The smoke drifts low to the ground due to the nights dampness. Sherry gets up takes another hit and leans up against the tank's wall. She hears noise out in the distance. The humming of pumps. Loud banging sounds, are making her giggle. She pictures a man out there banging on a pipe with a hammer. SHERRY Oh this is potent. Not so scary out here now. Sherry pulls the zipper of her coveralls down to her naval. She begins to fondle her tits with one hand, while puffing on the joint with the other. She hears noise coming from the far side of the tank. Steve appears from around the corner. SHERRY (handing the pot to Steve) You're going to do me fast and hard, baby. Steve, not saying a word takes the joint and swallows it. SHERRY Hey! Steve kisses her hungrily on the mouth. Her passion grows. She can feel her hot juices running down her legs. Sherry runs her hands through Steve's thick hair. She feels something slimy between her fingers. Looking up she notices Steve's hairs turning into pink worms. Before she can scream, Steve grabs her face and smashes her head against the side of the tank. She fades in and out of consciousness. She comes to. One of Steve's hands is tightly wrapped around her throat. STEVE'S FACE - NIGHT His head of worms is blowing in his self made wind. There are dark sockets instead of eyes. Deep gashes on his face are oozing out yellow pus. A cockroach squirms out of one cut and crawls back into another. Sherry would scream if she only could. Steve slaps her face. NOON Don't pass out on me now, bitch. I have something hot for you. With one hand around her throat and a knee in her gut, Steve brings his other hand out from behind his back. STEVE'S HAND - NIGHT A bubbling black glob of four hundred degree asphalt, shaped like a tiny Buddha, sits on his palm. It's tiny arms reach out to Sherry. Smoke and fumes emanate from the boiling Buddha. Steve forces the hot asphalt into her mouth. NOON (screeches) Hot ass-phalt cummm-innng in. Are you hot and ready? You can see her terror and pain in her eyes, as the burning asphalt makes its way down her throat inside her. It burns her tissues, organs, and muscles on its way down. In a simultaneous blast, the hot tar shoots back up and out of her eyes, nose, mouth and ears. A long and grotesque tongue spirals out from Steve's mouth and wraps itself around Sherry's neck. Steve drags her lifeless body across the Tank Farm. SMASH CUT. INT. LAB - NIGHT The working section of the lab has three long tables, well-equipped with microscopes, beakers, testing machines for different types of test. Wilson, a small Oriental, sits at the end of one table, dialing Walt's extension. WILSON Walt, I still haven't... The side door opens and Steve walks in with a smile. WILSON Never mind, he just walked in. CUT TO. EXT. RAIL CAR LOADING RACK - NIGHT Located at the far south side of the refinery is the rail car loading rack. It stands fourteen feet up and runs about fifty yards from east to west. Javier is on top of a rail car, opening the dome. He walks off the car onto the ramp and back on the walkway over to the hand crank. He is lowering the loading spout into the empty rail car's dome. SEXY WOMAN'S VOICE INSIDE RAIL CAR (V.O.) Party with me down here. Javier immediately turns the crank in the opposite direction to raise the spout out of the car. JAVIER (panic in his voice) Hang on, lady, I'll get you out. You could have been killed. The loading spout is cleared and Javier gets back on top of the rail car. He gets to his knees and pulls out his flashlight. He shines it down into the car. The light dims, then goes out completely. JAVIER Damn it. I can't see you. SEXY WOMAN'S VOICE INSIDE RAIL CAR (V.O.) Party with me Jav...cum on me. JAVIER (now excited) Who's down there? How do you know my name? Now more interested in the woman, Javier tosses his hard hat over to the ramp. He grabs hold of the outer rim of the dome and slowly lowers himself into the rail car. He hangs there, finally lets go and makes a three point landing. (feet, ass, and head). CUT TO. INT. RAIL CAR - NIGHT Except for the lighting from the rack, shining down into the rail car, the rest of the car inside is pitch black at both ends. Javier can see clear around him, as long as he stays beneath the open dome. Javier rubs his head from the fall. JAVIER Hey lady...where are you? At that moment down at the west end, a bright greenish- glow radiates from the corner. Javier hears a voice coming from within the green glow. The voice sounds inhuman. It has a gritty sound as if it has gravel in its throat. VOICE IN CORNER OF RAIL CAR (V.O.) Party with me...cum on me...get the fuck in here with me. JAVIER I'm not in control here. Just then, Steve pops his head into the dome from up on top. Javier sees him. JAVIER Steve, get me out of here. There's something in here with me. NOON (calm) Did you get your bodily entry permit and your confined space permit, before entering this vessel? JAVIER (screaming) Stop screwing around and get me out! The green-glow lights up bright enough for Javier to see two giant leeches sliding along the inner walls heading in his direction. NOON Nothing to it, but to do it. Steve moves off the rail car to the walkway and starts to crank the loading spout back down into the rail car. NOON (yells) Can you reach up to the loading spout? JAVIER (V.O.) Yeah! NOON Okay, hang onto it and I will pull you up. JAVIER (V.O.) I'm on...crank it up now. Steve does just that. Cranking it up fast. The loading spout moves up, out from the dome. Javier is hanging on tightly. Steve locks it into position. Javier steps on the rail car letting go of the spout. Steve runs back on the rail car to Javier. JAVIER We need to get Walt out here. There's something down in this car. NOON If there is...let's get rid of it. Steve grabs hold of the loading spout valve and shoves it into the open position. The four hundred degree liquid asphalt comes out with a blast. That's when Javier notices Steve's hair is now silver. Small chunks of his flesh fall from his face into the rail car. A wicked grin comes across Steve's face. NOON Nothing to it, but to do it! With effective speed and super strength, Steve grabs Javier at his ankles, lifting him right off his feet. He shoves the upper part of Javier's body into the rail car's dome. The boiling liquid burns off his face and skin to his upper torso. Steve lets go of his legs and the burning corpse falls into the car as it fills up with asphalt. SMASH CUT: INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Walt is sipping on his Diet Coke. Kevin is writing in his passbook. Walt's phone rings. WALT Pump house. CUT TO. INT. SCALE HOUSE - NIGHT Security Ralph is pacing back and forth looking out the bay window. INTERCUT: SECURITY RALPH (nervous) Security Ralph here. I'm at the Scales. Sherry called me to bring down some computer paper. Said she was out...but she is nowhere around. WALT Relax, Ralph. I'm sure she'll be back. Probably went up front to get something to eat from the vending machines. SECURITY RALPH (flops in chair) Okay, I'll wait here awhile. Ralph hangs up. CUT TO: INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Walt takes a big swig from his Coke. WALT Our security guard is in a panic. He can't find Sherry. KEVIN Speaking of missing persons, Javier was supposed to call me when he got product flow. Kevin walks over to the base radio. KEVIN Javier, are you getting any flow yet? No answer. WALT Maybe Steve has seen them. Walt gets on the base radio. WALT Steve. Come in, Steve. No answer. WALT Steve call the Pump House if you can hear this. Walt looks over to Kevin. WALT Probably has his radio shut off. He does it enough. Look I'm going to take a ride to the Scales and check on Ralph. If you like, we can stop by the rail car rack and check on Javier. KEVIN Great. CUT TO. EXT. TANK FARM - NIGHT Kevin unplugs the cord from the outlet as Walt jumps into the drivers seat. They pass the Crude Unit and see Darwin and Jack out on the pump slab. WALT I wonder if they're still having problems with that pump? They wave as they go by. Kevin leans out of the cart watching for any type of movement up on the rail car rack. KEVIN Looks deserted up there. They pull up to the East end of the rack. CUT TO. EXT. RAIL CAR RACK - NIGHT They walk up the stairs and stop to stare down the long deserted walkway. A mist filters through the dim lights along the rack. Walt and Kevin slowly make their way to the west end of the rack. Kevin leans up against the railing, looking out at the deserted land in front of them KEVIN Why did they build this refinery so far away from the city? WALT Zoning laws, I expect. Too dangerous to be planted right in the middle of town. KEVIN You know, because of the gas rationing, my friends are asking me to steal some gas for them. WALT What do you tell them? KEVIN Hell, I won't take any for myself. Afraid of getting caught and losing this job. WALT It would be easy, though. A five-gallon can...take it from the sample spout of the tank. I even heard that someone drove their car in. Drove it right up to a tank. Hooked up a rubber hose to the sample line and filled his car up. KEVIN Who? Do you know who? Walt laughs. WALT If I tell you, I would have to kill you. You're right, though. It's not worth losing your job, for five gallons or a fill-up...look, everything seems to be secured up here. Let's go see how our Security is holding up. CUT TO. EXT. BACKROAD - NIGHT The cart heads down the bumpy dirt road. They pass the lab and Walt hits the brakes. KEVIN You see one of them? WALT No, but all the lights are off at the lab. Walt switches into reverse and slowly backs up to the lab. A small dim light shines in the back of the lab. Walt and Kevin walk in. WALT Wilson! You here? WILSON (sitting at the back table, dim light behind him in storage room) I'm here. WALT Why are the lights out? WILSON I do this when I'm on break. Relaxes me. Kind of a zen thing. WALT That's okay...just never saw the lights out like this before. WILSON You never came during my break before. Kevin and Walt both felt creepy in there. Wilson looks a little creepy also. KEVIN Hey Wilson, you haven't seen Javier, Sherry or Steve lately? WILSON Steve was in here earlier with the samples. He only brought in two quarts. I told him I needed four quarts, total. He's going to bring the other two soon I hope. Haven't seen the others. WALT Well call us if you see Javier or Sherry. Both of the men were near the door on their way out when Wilson spoke. WILSON (muttering) Fuck a pumper. CUT TO. EXT. BACK ROADWAY - NIGHT They jump in the cart and take off. KEVIN Wow! That was weird. WALT This whole night is turning out weird. CUT TO. EXT. LAB. - NIGHT Back at the lab looking in from the outside, barely seeing Wilson but seeing enough as four arms on each side of his body, swing and flap around, knocking over the beakers on the table. Wilson hisses. CUT TO. EXT. BACK ROADWAY - NIGHT The cart heads down the bumpy dirt road and both men notice Big Red's truck at rack sixteen is gone. WALT Great someone finally picked up Red's truck. Hope they do something about that man this time. He's been a thorn in Peedmonts side for too many years. CUT TO. INT. SCALE HOUSE - NIGHT Kevin and Walt enter the staging area. Walt reaches over the lower part of the dutch door, opens it and they enter the office. WALT What's up, Ralph? SECURITY RALPH She's nowhere. I took the jeep up front. She wasn't there, either. Nothing! KEVIN Well don't go ballistic on us, but we can't find Javier or Steve, for that matter, either. SECURITY RALPH Holy shit! WALT Calm down, Ralph. Here's what we are going to do. I'll check the gasoline side. Kevin, will check the asphalt side. And Ralph, you patrol the back roads and perimeter. If we come up empty-handed, I'll have to get Dan in on this but I'm sure they'll show up before then. Ralph jumps up from his seat. SECURITY RALPH (excited) Got it. Security Ralph is on the hunt. Ralph leaves the Scale house. Kevin has a bewildered look on his face as he turns to Walt. WALT I guess that's what they're geared up for. Walt looks through some papers, scattered on the front counter. Kevin moves to the side counter and does the same. KEVIN What are we looking for? WALT I have no... Kevin breaks in. KEVIN Walt, look at this. Walt slides the chair over to Kevin. Kevin hands Walt a small yellow post-it pad. It reads: STEVE'S CODE-->LETS DO IT! WALT (surprised and puzzled) They are together. Steve is tapping Sherry. KEVIN You don't think Javier is with them? WALT There's not enough love between Steve and Javier for a threesome. Lets check out our areas. I know the first place I'll be looking. KEVIN Where's that? WALT The gasoline truck loading building. Remember they shut down loading to repair the sprinkler system. KEVIN Right...do we meet back here? WALT Right on, my friend. CUT TO: EXT. TRUCK LOADING AREA - NIGHT Walt keeps his eyes on the building. The lights around the outside of the building are off. Only one light shines through a small window from the bathroom. It outlines the side of the building. Walt opens the gate. He stays close to the fence keeping away from the loading lights. He walks up to the main entrance opposite the bathroom. The area is dark and the door is partially open. CUT TO. INT. LOADING BUILDING - NIGHT Walt steps inside and stops to listen for any movement or noise. Only silence fills the building. He continues toward the bathroom. Walt opens the door just to find it empty. Walt moves over to the waiting room. The door is ajar. It creaks as he pushes it open. Walt runs his hand up and down the wall to find the light switch, flips the switch up, but no light comes on. Tries again, but no luck. He pulls out his Mag-Lite and surveys the empty room. An old rickety table and a few chairs occupy the room. WALT Damn, I really thought they would be here. Walt walks over to the window and stares outside. A voice speaks out from the far corner of the room behind him. BIG RED (shrieks) I can piss faster than this. Walt spins around so fast, he drops the flashlight and the light goes out. He gropes for it in the dark, finds it and turns it on. Walt shines it around the room to where he hears the voice coming from. The light finds Big Red standing in a corner of the room. He looks like he is auditioning for "Night of the Living Dead." BIG RED (voice cracks) I won't need my safety gear. White worms fall out from Red's mouth. BIG RED Could piss faster... WALT Nooooo! Walt runs out the room and out of the building, not stopping till he reaches the gated fence. He is out of breath. WALT (to himself) Need to double up on the meds. I'm cracking up. Fuckin' Nam. In a daze, Walt heads back to the Scale house. SMASH CUT: INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Darwin Bennett enters the control room. The receiver is cranked up and the song, "I go Wild," by The Rolling Stones is playing. DARWIN Damn...we all hard of hearing in here. Where is everyone? Darwin walks over to the receiver and shuts it off. He checks out the lunch room. Empty. He knocks on the bathroom door. DARWIN Anyone home? Darwin enters. CUT TO. INT. BATHROOM. NIGHT The restroom is small. To his left is a sink. The urinal is just right of that. The stall for the toilet is enclosed and just right of the urinal. Darwin sees large clumps of dark hair on the floor and inside the sink's basin. He looks into the urinal and finds more hair mixed with blood and urine. Darwin steps back in disgust. Then the stall door flies open and Steve jumps out. Darwin lets out a small scream. DARWIN Damn, Steve...what bees the deal? Steve looks like some kind of bizarre psycho. There are only small patches of hair left on his head. He is bleeding from the cuts and gashes on his scalp. Blood runs down his face. DARWIN Who did this, Steve? You okay, brother? NOON Mighty fine! The receiver comes back on again, the same song blasting out in the control room. NOON My name is Steve Noon. I'm a loon, a real moon goon. Steve crams both hands into his mouth and stretches it to the far sides of his face. It is as if he is made of elastic. No longer looking like a mouth but a dark cave, it's oozing out brown fluid. The sliding door latch shuts itself with great force. Darwin never hears it. His concentration on Steve is hypnotic. The creature shoves Darwin's head into it's dark pit. The elastic mouth snaps back tight making it impossible for Darwin to pull his head out. Darwin immediately starts kicking frantically at the door behind him. The creature swings Darwin's body around, throwing him against the walls. Darwin gets his feet up on the sink, trying to get control, but the sink breaks away from the wall. The pipes break spraying water everywhere. Darwin's screams become muffled as the creature chomps with sharp crunching sounds. Darwin's body goes limp. He drops headless from the creature's mouth. In the background, you can still hear the song, "I GO WILD." CUT TO. EXT. SCALE HOUSE - NIGHT Walt comes around the corner of the scale house and sees Kevin walking down the middle of the roadway also heading towards the Scales. Walt peers into the window and sees no one inside. He gets in the cart to meet Kevin. Kevin gets in. KEVIN Didn't see anyone...did you find them at the loading rack? Walt looks over to Kevin. Kevin can see him shaking and a look of fear on his face. WALT There is something wrong here. You may think I lost it...and maybe I did. But it was real to me. I need my meds. Hell, maybe it's the meds that made me see that. KEVIN (concerned) See what, Walt? WALT In the keyrack building. I saw Big Red...but he wasn't alive. KEVIN What? WALT He stood in the corner, spitting out white worms. He was dead. You think your head operator has gone over the edge? I wouldn't blame you. I think I'm losing it. KEVIN I don't know what you saw, Walt. But if you said you seen it, I believe you. I can't put my fingers on it, but when we were up on the tank car rack, I felt something evil near. Don't know what it was but there was a presence there. And it didn't make me feel good. WALT Thank you in believing. Look, we are missing people, I saw some type of apparition. We got to let others know. Lets get back to the pumphouse so I can call everyone. CUT TO. INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT The phone is ringing as Walt and Kevin enter. Walt reaches over his desk and picks up the receiver. WALT Pump house. No one on the line. After hanging up, Walt heads to the lunchroom. WALT (V.O.) Pills, pills, I need those pills. Walt comes in with pills in one hand and his Diet Coke in the other. WALT I'm a friggin' basket case. KEVIN Anyone who spent time in combat, in the jungles of Vietnam and can run this tank farm department is doing better than all of us. WALT Thank you. Walt swallows the pills. He slides his chair over to the base radio. Kevin sits down to see what Walt is going to say to the night super. WALT Supervisor, come in, Dan. DAN (O.S) Dan here. WALT Dan, this is Walt. Can you make it over to the Pump house? DAN (O.S) Give me ten minutes, Walt, I'm with Steve right now. Walt turns and looks at Kevin. Both have surprised looks on their faces. WALT (turning back to the radio) Steve Noon is with you. DAN (O.S) Yes he is Walt...you need him? WALT Ask him if he seen Javier or Sherry. After a moment of silence, Dan gets back on the radio. DAN (O.S) Yes, he said he saw them both up front, getting some snacks from the vending machines. WALT (relief) That's all I need to know. No need to stop by Dan. And tell Steve to turn his radio back on. DAN (O.S) Right. Glad I could help. SECURITY RALPH (O.S) I heard...all accounted for. WALT Thanks Ralph. Walt spins his chair back in Kevin's direction. WALT It must be these meds. KEVIN I'm not on meds and I felt evil out there. WALT I don't know. Why is Steve talking to Dan? KEVIN Do you think he's telling Dan about the fight? Trying to make it look like Javier's fault? WALT God, I sure hope he hasn't stooped that low. Damn, Steve. KEVIN Going to take a leak, then I need to hand-gauge one of my tanks. We asphalt pumpers don't have the luxury like the light oil operators, whose tanks are all monitored on a computer. WALT (smiles) I remember those days. At least you stay in better shape climbing those tanks. But I heard from a good source they are talking about putting in a Sabb gauging system for the asphalt tanks. KEVIN By the time they get those in, I'll be working the gasoline side. WALT You are probably right about that. CUT TO. INT. RESTROOM - NIGHT Kevin walks into the bathroom where the grotesque elimination of Darwin Bennett took place. But there is no sign of that. The restroom is spotless as if it were just cleaned. Nothing is broken. CUT TO. INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Walt still feels uneasy because of what he saw in the building. Hoping his pills will put him back on the right track. Kevin comes out, picks up his red hard hat and starts to leave. WALT You be careful out there. Kevin gets to the door and does his Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation. KEVIN I'll be bak! CUT TO. EXT. SAMPLE SHACK - NIGHT Kevin picks up a bucket with a tape gauge in it. This is used to gauge tanks. CUT TO. EXT. TANK FARM - NIGHT He walks past the two asphalt heaters and makes his way to the dirt trail made by the heavy foot traffic of all the pumpers. Kevin stares down the pathway. The trail is looking dim and murky. The overhead pipes begin to shake above Kevin, making a loud banging sound. He continues on. He hears the humming of the shipping pumps just a few yards ahead. Down at the pumps an overhead light begins to flicker. It completely turns off then comes back on again. This cycle continues as Kevin approaches the pumps. Kevin veers off towards the south when he gets to the pumps. He walks between two tanks and heads over to the northeast tank. (Sherry White's tank) Kevin walks up the stairs that wrap around the tank. When he reaches the top, the light goes out. KEVIN Damn it! There are chattering sounds coming from somewhere close by. Panic hits Kevin. KEVIN (to himself, as he walks down the stairs) I'll shut down this transfer...there's enough product in here to last all weekend. He gets halfway down when he stops suddenly. He closes his eyes then opens them again just to find them still there. A few steps below Kevin and beyond are small skull heads occupying the steps. With chomping mouths, they are chattering in place. The heads look up at Kevin and become louder. Heart racing, Kevin takes several steps down then stops just above the skull heads that fill the steps. He slides his left boot in between the heads without incident. Some of the skulls turn toward the boot that infiltrated their step. Kevin continues on with slow but steady movements. He makes it down four steps when a loud high pitch screeching comes from the bottom of the tank. Kevin freezes. A screaming skull head comes flying up at Kevin as if it is shot from a cannon. Kevin tries to hit it with his bucket but misses. The small head clobbers Kevin in his chest and clamps its teeth into his flesh. Kevin screams as he pulls it off his chest. He throws it over the railing. It hits the ground hard, splits in half but the two halves keep on chomping. Kevin feels the heads biting his boots. No longer moving slow, he takes off running down the stairs, kicking any skulls he comes in contact with. One head jumps into his bucket. Kevin heaves the bucket over the side. A couple of skull heads attach themselves to his coveralls. They tear through the Nomax material. Kevin screams from the rush of pain coming from the bites on his legs. He loses balance near the bottom steps and falls face first in the dirt, knocking off his hard hat and glasses. One of the heads pop off his leg. A billow of dust comes up from beneath Kevin. He crawls on his hands and knees. He gets up and runs as fast as he can. He runs around the shipping pumps with one skull head still hanging on his leg. He stops on the trail and bends down with both hands, trying to pry it off. KEVIN (anger mixed with fear) Get the hell off me...you son of a bitch shithead! Kevin gives one more yank and screams when he feels his flesh tear as he finally pulls it off. Kevin tosses it. The head wedges between two vertical pipes. It still has some flesh and blood in its mouth as it continues chomping away. In a fast limping pace, Kevin makes his way back to the Pump House. CUT TO. INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Kevin enters the control room. WALT (shouts) Jesus Christ...what the hell? Kevin drags himself to his chair. Coveralls torn, blood dripping from his chest and legs. WALT I'll get the first aid kit. Did Steve do this to you? Walt hurries over to the medicine cabinet on the wall. KEVIN It's not Steve...not Steve. Most important, it's not from this World. Walt brings back some anti-infection spray, hydrogen peroxide and a box of sterile gauze. Walt hands the peroxide to Kevin. I'll let you pour while I get the gauze and wraps ready. Kevin pours the peroxide over his chest while Walt is spraying the anti-infection solution onto the gauze pads with the ties. Kevin pours more peroxide over his leg wounds. Walt wraps up Kevin's wounds. WALT You need medical care. I'm going to call Ralph to take you to Wiliken Medical Center. KEVIN No way! You have no idea what's out there. WALT I'm afraid I do. Remember Big Red? KEVIN Right. I was attacked by small skull heads. The phone rang, causing both of them to jump. Walt picks up the phone. WALT (talking on the phone) No, haven't seen him. Look Jack, I need to talk to you, and tell Eric and Rudy not to leave your control room, if they have to go out use the buddy system. See ya soon. KEVIN What's happening over at the Crude Unit? WALT (looking worried) They can't find Darwin. You know we haven't heard from Javier or Sherry since Steve said he saw them. I'm beginning to think Steve lied, but why? I'll call the Scales on the phone, you try Javier over the radio. The Scale house just rings and Kevin is getting no reply on the radio. WALT Security Ralph come in. SECURITY RALPH (O.S) Security Ralph here. WALT Ralph, I need you at the Pump house. SECURITY RALPH (O.S) Security Ralph out. CUT TO. INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Walt and Kevin hear the back door open. They turn to face the back hallway. Frozen in fear they hear footsteps of someone or something slowly coming up the hallway. A big smile comes over both their faces as Jack Clark walks in the control room. JACK Holy Mother McCraidy! What happened Kevin? WALT Sit down Jack. Walt is leaning against the blending panel when Ralph walks in. After he sees Kevin, he stops in his tracks. RALPH What happened to Kevin? WALT Grab a chair. Ralph sits in Steve's chair. Jacks in Walt's. WALT Stand-by guys. Walt presses down on the mic switch of his radio. WALT Supervisor come in, Dan. DAN (O.S) Ste...at...cam...pump...ack... WALT Dan, your breaking up, repeat. There is no return answer. WALT Jack, call Dan's extension. Jack gets on the phone, turns to Walt JACK Phones are down. WALT Dan, if you can hear my transmission, please report to the Pump House. A loud ear piercing sound comes over everyone's radio. SECURITY RALPH (panicking) What's that? WALT Listen up people. We have a bad situation here. There is something evil that seems to be taking over the Tank Farm. Where it came from, I have no idea. Why it's here I do not know that either. WALT But what I do know is we can't give it a chance to get to us. Kevin is lucky to be here with us. It got to him but he escaped it. I saw something at the gasoline loading rack. I escaped that. Some may not have been so lucky. We are missing, Sherry, Javier, Darwin and Steve. SECURITY RALPH (to Kevin) Are they dead? WALT We don't know Ralph. But we will survive this. We all have jobs to do. Ralph, you have two things to complete. First: You get Kevin over to Wiliken. Second: You high tail it to the Peedmont Police Department. Tell them we are missing people and one had to be taken to Wiliken. Jack, stay inside with your people if all possible. JACK The Unit is running fine. No reason to be out there. We can watch everything from the board. WALT What about that pump you guys were having problems with earlier? JACK We took it off line. Switch over to the spare pump. WALT Good. KEVIN Walt, you listen to that late night radio program that are always talking about ghost and things coming from out of space...did they ever mention anything like this? WALT Hell no. They said that certain plants are from other Galaxies but are harmless. This feels like their purpose here is just for evil intent. Why a refinery? Are they just hopping from one place to another at random for fun? Can't tell you, Kev. KEVIN Walt, I just remembered, I need to shut down a transfer. I have a tank filling up. WALT Okay, it's too dangerous to block in the whole line-up. Ralph, on your way out, stop by the pump. Just shut off the pump, close the discharge valve and get out of there. I have a transfer going, but it will take two shifts to complete, and as far as the gasoline blend... Walt turns around to face the blender. Turns a couple of knobs from the on position to the closed. The green lights above the switches turn red. WALT Done. Ralph stares at Kevin's computer. SECURITY RALPH (points to computer) Look you guys. They all look. The screen is changing colors, from red to green, to purple to black. In large red block lettering, coming across the screen from left to right, are the words: ALL PUMPFUCKS MUST DIE!! The message continues repeating itself on all the computers in the room. KEVIN That has to be Steve...it's his favorite word. WALT Who ever it is, must be using the main computers up front. Walt helps Kevin out of the chair. WALT Everyone keep your radios on. We might break through at times. Okay, everybody to their jobs and good luck to us all. May God be with us. Jack heads out the back way as the rest move out through the front door. CUT TO. EXT. OUTSIDE OF PUMP HOUSE - NIGHT Walt helps Kevin into the jeep. Ralph gets in and starts up the jeep. WALT (to Ralph) I'm counting on you to get this done. SECURITY RALPH (with an edge) Sure will, Walt. Walt closes the passenger's door and gives them a salute. Kevin salutes back. Ralph's is more like a half salute and a wave. They take off and head towards the main roadway. CUT TO. INT. SAMPLE SHACK - NIGHT Walt walks into the sample shack not knowing why or what he is in there for. He spots two, quart sample bottles with liquid inside them. He removes the cap and sniffs. WALT Jet Fuel. CUT TO. INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Walt walks in with both bottles and places them on his desk. CUT TO: EXT. TANK FARM - NIGHT The jeep moves slow on the dirt roadway. They pass rack 16 then turn left into a entrance that runs over the firewall and down into the dyke area of the two largest tanks in the Refinery. The jeep pulls up to the pump and idles. KEVIN See the small switch box, just left of the pump? SECURITY RALPH I see it. KEVIN The bottom button is the off button. The small valve, up over the pump is the discharge valve. That's the one to close. SECURITY RALPH Got it. Ralph backs up the jeep then directs the jeep so the headlights are shinning on the pump. Ralph gets out and heads towards the pump. Between the two large tanks, standing on the firewall are four figures. One has a crow on it's shoulder. Kevin sees them. KEVIN (panic in voice) Ralph hurry up...I see something. Ralph begins twisting on the valve faster. He runs back to the jeep. SECURITY RALPH What was it? KEVIN Something on the firewall. It's gone now. SECURITY RALPH So are we. Ralph puts the gear in reverse and steps on the gas, making a quick u-turn. They drove up over the firewall and back on the roadway. When they turn right to leave the Refinery, Kevin sees Steve walking up the main roadway. KEVIN There's Steve! Ralph doesn't even look. He keeps driving. He has a mission to complete for Walt. SMASH CUT: INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Walt is at his desk, checking the phones again when Steve Noon comes into the control room. Steve is looking better than ever. Hair neatly combed, coveralls cleaned and pressed. WALT (bothered and perplexed) Where the hell have you been? NOON After the fight with Javier, I went down to the Scales. Sherry and I made plans to meet in the Tank Farm...you know, for a secret rendezvous. She never showed up so I went back to the Scales but she was nowhere to be found. Steve sits at his desk. WALT You said you saw her and Javier up front when you were with Dan. NOON I lied. I just wanted to get out of his office. WALT Sherry, Javier, and Darwin are all missing. I thought you were among them...but I'm glad your here. NOON Where is Kevin? WALT Our new security guard is taking Kevin to Wiliken. There is something evil in our Tank Farm. That is why we are staying inside. Did you see anything out of the ordinary while you were out there? NOON No, but I felt like I was being watched the whole time I was out there. Steve pulls out some printing paper from his desk drawer and begins writing. CUT TO: EXT. ROAD TO CITY - NIGHT Kevin keeps thinking about Steve Noon walking down the main roadway and the feeling is bad. INT. JEEP - NIGHT KEVIN You ever have those feelings you can't explain. Like a six sense? SECURITY RALPH I think so...once maybe. KEVIN After I seen Steve walking down the road, I knew something was wrong. We're wasting time here. Get me back to the Refinery. SECURITY RALPH Walt wants me... Kevin cuts him off. KEVIN Walt is going to die, if we don't get back there. New orders. Drop me off at the Pump house, then get the police. SECURITY RALPH But you're still bleeding. KEVIN Want to be next. Ralph hits the brakes. CUT TO: INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Walt and Steve Noon are still at their desk. Steve Noon is still writing. WALT (jokingly) What are you writing Steve, a novel? Steve Noon ignores Walt's question and continues writing without letting up. The right side of Steve's face is twitching with small spasms. WALT You okay Steve? NOON Fine and D-A-N-D-Fuckin-Y. Steve Noon gets up, giving Walt a (I'll get ya) kind of look, then heads to the bathroom. Walt immediately slides his chair over to Steve's desk. He picks up a few sheets of paper. All pages read: All pumpfucks must die! ALL PUMPFUCKS MUST DIE. ALL PUMPfucks will die. all pumpFUCKS can DIE! all pumpfucks must die. die all you pumpfucks. All pumpFucks will die! These words are on all the pages Steve Noon has been writing on. Steve Noon is standing at the entrance way. NOON Time for your oblivion pumpfuck! Walt gets up quickly, dives over his desk and is on his feet in seconds. Steve Noon stands at the entrance. The spasms are increasing in size and motion, looking like bubbles in boiling water, moving more rapidly each time. Walt glances over to the Jet fuel bottles on his desk. He picks up one bottle removing the cap. WALT Here, let me help...Pumpfuck! With an under arm toss, he splashes the Jet Fuel in Steve's face. His bubbling face smokes. Chunks of flesh hit the floor, sizzling. Then as if someone takes a sledgehammer to a block of ice, Steve's head shatters into little pieces. What protrudes from the opening of it's neck cavity, is a giant leech. Much smaller leeches are breaking through the coveralls in hundreds. Walt runs outside. CUT TO. EXT. OUTSIDE OF PUMP HOUSE - NIGHT Walt, rigid with terror, does not know where to run. The large creature comes busting out the door, knocking it off its hinges. It lets out a high pitch shriek and a cluster of leeches fly off the shredded coveralls, hitting Walt in the face. Walt tries to pull off the worms as they pore into his face. Walt runs off, tripping towards the asphalt heaters, with the creature right behind him. CUT TO: EXT. REFINERY - NIGHT Ralph and Kevin drive into the Refinery, passing the Scale house which is deserted. The jeep moves fast down the main roadway. It picks up more speed as it comes around the asphalt racks. The jeep skids to a stop and is covered in a cloud of smoke. Kevin gets out, stiff and sore. KEVIN You did right Ralph, now go get the police. SECURITY RALPH I'll be back, promise. Kevin shuts the door and Ralph takes off spinning the tires, leaving Kevin in another cloud of dust. When the dust clears, Kevin looks towards the Pump house. He can see inside the control room because the door is gone. Kevin walks up to the Pump house from the corner of his eyes he sees something moving near the heaters. KEVIN (yells) Walt, is that you? No response, except the blowing of the wind. Kevin stops at the doorway. He sees the door torn off its hinges. The control room is filled with worms and leeches of all different sizes. They are sliding down the walls, crawling over the desks and squirming along the floor. Muffle screams are coming from the heaters. Kevin takes off towards the screams. As he gets close, he sees something very large inside the three-foot wall that surrounds the heaters. He drops fast and feels the pain in his legs but keeps crawling slowly towards the heaters. CUT TO. EXT. ASPHALT HEATERS - NIGHT He gets to the brick wall and leans up against it. Kevin turns around and peeks over the wall. He feels his sanity slip away. A ten foot leech stands erect between the two heaters. Kevin low crawls away from the heaters. INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT Again Kevin stops at the entrance of the control room. The entire place is covered with the nasty looking legless invertebrates. Kevin enters the room and walks over to his desk. As his boots come down on the swollen worms, he can hear them pop. Globs of green jelly-like fluid oozes out. He opens the drawer, it is also filled with leeches. He pushes them around till he sees the "DO NOT OPERATE TAGS". Kevin takes out the tags, pulling the wires off, and places the wires into his pocket. He hurries out of the control room. CUT TO. EXT. BREAKER PANEL - NIGHT Just East of the asphalt racks is the breaker panel for all the pumps in the Tank Farm. Kevin walks a little stiff legged but still is moving pretty fast for his injuries. He gets in front of the large enclosed panel doors and grabs both handles, pulling them down and the doors open. He finds the breakers to the circulating pumps for the heaters and turns them both off. The low flow alarms for the heaters go off. Kevin heads back to the control room. This time he doesn't stop at the doorway but continues in, over to the heater panel. The loud sound from the horns are vibrating the worms off the wall. Kevin swipes his hand across the panel board to find the acknowledge button for the alarm horns. He finds it, pushes it in and the horns stop. Worms are falling from the ceiling. Kevin brushes them off his head. He can see the leeches on the desk standing up, sniffing and moving in his direction. Kevin gets out of there. CUT TO. EXT. ASPHALT HEATERS - NIGHT Kevin gets back to the brick wall. He shuffles himself to the center, where the safety latches are located. Due to Kevin shutting the pumps off the safety latches are down, which stops the gas from entering the heater. Kevin takes the wires from his pocket and ties up the latches into the on position. The giant leech is moving over to the right corner and is spinning a web. He focuses in to see a body laying in front of the creature, being woven into a cocoon. Small leeches pop off the large one and scurry on the ground, then jump into the cocoon body. KEVIN (quietly) Walt? Kevin lifts his wounded legs over the wall. The wind is blowing dirt and dust everywhere. Kevin looks for the portable torch and finds it in the left corner. He picks it up, opens the gas valve. Finds the striker chained to the canister. He squeezes the handle across the flint and the spark ignites the end of the torch. Kevin adjusts the size of the flame. Kevin slowly moves towards the creature, screaming at Walt to get up. He makes another adjustment on the torch, increasing the size of the flame. He points it in the direction of the giant leech. It shrieks. Kevin bends down on one knee tearing the webs off of Walt. KEVIN (panicking) Get up Walt! Get up! Gotta go now! Walt pops up like a jack-in-the-box. He comes to, hearing the shrieks from the large leech as Kevin aims the torch closer to the creature. Walt helps Kevin rip the webs off himself. Tearing and kicking, Walt makes it up on his knees. Kevin throws the burning torch at the Leech. The shrieking becomes much louder. Kevin helps Walt to his feet. Both men throw themselves over the wall. Lying in pain, Kevin yells out. Walt helps Kevin up. KEVIN I got a plan. They continue to head towards the Pump house. WALT You know that thing out there use to be Steve. Looks like you never made it to Wiliken...Thank God you didn't. You saved my life back there. KEVIN The emergency was here...it was always here. Look, we gotta move fast while it's still under the heaters. I wired up the safety latches. The pumps are down. All we have to do is go inside the control room, which by the way is full of leeches, turn on the gas to 100% and turn those heaters into rockets. Once the heaters are full of gas and starts to leak out the port holes and hits that flame from the torch, BAM! WALT Lets roll. CUT TO. INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT When they get to the entrance a big relief comes over Kevin. The control room is free from worms and leeches. The room looks everyday normal. As they enter, the Crude Unit sampler, Rudy Diaz, walks in from the back with Darwin. Mr. Bennett looks as if he gained two hundred pounds. The extra weight comes from his stomach area, though his face is also bloated. Darwin's demeanor is of someone who is lost and confused. WALT Rudy, step away from Darwin. DARWIN I feel like I'm going to pass out. Hold me up Rudy. Rudy grabs Darwin's arm. WALT Rudy, Steve Noon, who looked very normal is now a friggen leech. Step away! KEVIN Do what he says. Loud and sharp crackling sounds come from within Darwin's stomach. He moans painfully. His stomach breaks open and sharp, long teeth protrude from the gaping hole. Two things happen simultaneously: Kevin runs to the heater panel, turns the gas valve open to one hundred percent. Also Darwin shoves Rudy's head into the mouth in Darwin's stomach. With one downward chomp, Rudy is decapitated. His body staggers into the wall before it drops. WALT We're out of here! They bolted from the room. CUT TO. EXT. ASPHALT HEATERS - NIGHT Kevin and Walt stop near the heaters. The giant leech is bent under the West heater. KEVIN What's it doing? WALT Smelling the gas, I believe. The portable torch is still on. Lets get away from here, before these heaters blow. Both of them make it over near the asphalt racks when they are knocked down by the first blast from the explosion of one heater. It is only seconds later, when the second heater goes up in a ball of flames. A fireball rises tinting the sky bright orange. KEVIN Walt, look up...not at the fire, but to the left. Still on the ground, Walt focuses on over a hundred red glowing globes ascending high in the sky. They hover awhile then shoot out in different directions and vanish from the sky. KEVIN It's gone...I feel it. Walt shakes his head in agreement. CUT TO. EXT. FRONT OF PUMP HOUSE - NIGHT Walt and Kevin are sitting in the cart just watching the fire when the Company fire truck rolls up next to them. Jack and Eric jump out. JACK Are you two okay? WALT Jack, we have been through hell and back. I would appreciate you guys if you take care of the fire for us. We would owe you two. JACK You owe us nothing there buddy. You stay put. I'm sure the Peedmont Fire Department already got their wake up call. ERIC Hell, you know the Fire Department is going to stand back, till we get it under control...so lets go tackle this baby. KEVIN What do we tell the Authorities? They won't believe an evil entity from another Galaxy took over our Tank Farm. They'll put us in the loony bin. WALT Kevin's right. The story will be...Steve Noon went on a killing spree. I'll fill you guys in on what really happened later. I think Steve also killed Dan, when he was in his office. And Jack...Darwin and Rudy were among the casualties. I'm very sorry. Jack hugs Walt. JACK Later...come on Eric, lets go fight a fire. They climb back into the fire truck and drive around the asphalt racks to the heaters. CUT TO: EXT. MAIN ROADWAY - NIGHT On the main roadway, you can see whirling red lights fragmenting on the side walls of the gasoline tanks as the fire trucks, police cars and paramedic vehicles make their way up the main road with Security Ralph leading the pack. KEVIN Ole Ralphie did alright in this night of hell. WALT In deed he did. You did very well yourself. Don't think I would be here if it wasn't for you. KEVIN You can save me the next time. Walt pulls out his pocket watch and laughs. KEVIN What's so funny? WALT It's almost time for shift change. How do I write this passbook? KEVIN Don't forget to tell them about the skull heads on tank twenty thousand two. Both men look exhausted as the vehicles pull up and around them. The phone rings in the control room. KEVIN The phones are working again. Walt runs in and picks up the phone. Lays it down and walks back out. WALT It's for you. KEVIN Hello? JANET (O.S) I'm sorry Kev. I couldn't sleep. I am wrong forcing you to quit your job. Will you forgive me. KEVIN I'll do more then forgive you, Janet. I will quit this job. We had a heater fire and an employee went berserk. I'm going to be talking to your dad on these next days off. JANET (O.S) Are you okay? KEVIN A little bruised up, but I'll live. JANET (O.S) I love you Kevin. KEVIN Their probably going to take me to Wiliken, if you want to meet me there. JANET (O.S) I'm on my way. What happened? KEVIN I'll tell you all about it when I see you. I love you too "J". SMASH CUT: EXT. BACKYARD PATIO -DAY The sky is bright blue with only a few cumulus clouds around. Kevin and Walt sit in the patio. WALT (wearing bi-focal glasses) We are all going to miss you at the Refinery. Your a part of that place you know? KEVIN I'm going to miss you guys...but not that refinery. Walt, don't you worry about it coming back again? WALT (chuckles) I have security Ralph to help me. KEVIN I can't believe he's staying. WALT Did you read in the newspaper. Said that all the victims were found piled up on one another, between the two burnt down heaters. They were all fused together. KEVIN I can't believe your going back. WALT When you get my age the choices become limited. KEVIN Your glasses...that's why you look so different. WALT (places glasses on the patio table) Just picked them up yesterday. Can't get use to these bi-focal's. But doctor says if I want to read...getting old is such a pain. You'll get there some day. KEVIN I feel like I'm there now. WALT Yeah, how are your injuries? KEVIN Healing well. Will probably start working down at the dealership next month. WALT Just remember, you always have a place at the refinery. Janet stands in the doorway. JANET You men ready for some dinner? WALT Yes Maam! KEVIN Lets eat. Kevin heads towards the door. Walt gets up reaching for his glasses and knocks them on the ground. WALT (muttering) Pumpfucks! KEVIN (standing half in and half out of the doorway) What was that Walt? WALT I dropped these damn glasses...never going to get use to them. KEVIN (V.O.) (enters inside) I can smell the pork chops. Walt makes sure Kevin is inside. He looks down at the glasses. A black long tongue lunges out of Walt's mouth and wraps itself around the pair of glasses and snaps back into his mouth. Walt puts his glasses back on. WALT (gritty sounding) Rock and roll Pumpfucks! KEVIN (pops his head back out) You okay? WALT Mighty fine! FADE TO BLACK THE END
