Eve's Regret
repented? yes. Forgiven? yes. Yet the pain we inflict still ripples....

Eve's Regret

A moment's reckless, feckless choice
Cloaks the weary ages,
Pain's stain left even
After repentance' wash-
Mirrored reflection of regret
echoing, echoing, echoing.

Only time's demise at last
Can consume the bitter fruit
Of the tree that grew
From seeds I dropped
So unheeding.
