SEA WOMAN
Is not a woman like a sea? Her eyes, so blue and deep, Do hide a hundred emotions And many secrets keep? Her temper is tempestuous, It can rise in a rage. Yet the depth of her wisdom can Be like that of a sage. Her memory is so immense, She forgets just nothing. Yet on surface, deceptively, She can be a plaything. But whosoever ventures to, With her, negotiate, May get into troubled waters That often seal his fate. Those waters may look placid and Gentle may look the wind. He may be sailing carelessly But almost, like a fiend, There may arise a sudden wave And he may be knocked down. He may be left among the sharks, In an instant, to drown. Both sea and she beckon a man Who gets entangled first. Then he is left in deep waters To die of cruel thirst. Woman is truly like the sea, From whom all life comes out. Flowing kindness, her children, She always has no doubt. Man, be afraid and venerate A woman as the sea. She can nurture and she can save Yet destroy, too, can she. * Written in 8-6-8-6 format * Related poem: POISON EYES—entry ID # 374433 in "LOVE POEMS" M C Gupta 5 September 2004
