Despair
Am I gone?

In these arms I embraced you,
Slowly fading from your sight.
If I had known you were untrue,
I would have made things right.

Warned, but I didn’t comprehend,
Thinking they just didn’t know.
Realizing now, I must pretend
So my real feelings won’t show.

All the promises you had made
Have been carelessly broken.
I live my life eternally afraid
From the words you’ve spoken.

Within these halls I remain unseen,
Never acknowledged as your wife,
Completing my daily routine,
But never really kissing life.
