Longing To Go Back

Do you hear me,
When I think of you;
When you are dreaming,
And I am too?

Is that your voice,
In memories past,
That hold me close,
And hold me fast?

I heard it once,
The sound of laughter,
The touch of love;
The warmness after.

I know I saw it,
The apparent stare;
The flush of fear,
The unknown trail.

I know it's there,
I know you cared;
When I close my eyes,
You would have dared-

To save me,
And bring me back,
Into your arms,
Crushing fear at that.

But time and space,
Wont give me answers,
For they have passed,
And left me cancers.

And I'm forgotten;
Almost unknown.
Still alive,
Yet so alone.
