Freedom’s Song
September the eleventh etched indelibly in my mind a flurry of activity mad men driven by hate innocents drawn into the act and sacrificed on the altar of evil We were brought low, and yet… our strength is in our people we will not yield we will not rest we will not relent let no one mistake our tears for weakness for we will not surrender freedom You may terrorize our land… destroy our resources pollute our airways with your hatred you may even kill our bodies, but… you will never possess our freedom For freedom’s song is… a song of the heart that longs to be free to infect the hearts of others for it can never live in just one heart but it sings in the hearts of many And though you quell it in one heart its melody lingers and the hearts where it lingers yearn to be free to share its melody with others, for… if freedom is to be free it must be won on the battlefields defended by the blood of patriots championed by the lofty adored by those who had no freedom but to live it, must be shared
