N ever am I happier than when my needles click, E ver tempted to procure hued yarns of texture thick. E ven as I pen this verse, my thoughts and fingers stray... D ebating which needs done the worst ~ poetry or play? L essons learned are lessons best, and therefore I remain; E 'r I bend to heart's behest, work beckons yet again. W ere it not for pledges made (and my need for cash) ~ O dious chores would be delayed and off to knit I'd dash. R ancorous though I may feel at laying yarns aside, K nowing I must pay the bills my preference overrides. A ll the saints and Heavenly Hosts will attest, I'm sure, N ecessary to us most is keeping groceries stored. D ecidely uncomfortable though this fact makes me feel, C ash on hand is laudable when landlords' threats are real. R are, the moments I purloin to knit and purl and stitch, A lthough at times my whims enjoin and I am left bewitched; F urtively, I'll cast my glance at work and mounting tasks, T hen steal away for pilfered chance to in my pastime bask... S itting for a lovely spell, beloved threads in hand ~ fugitive, alive and well, from work and best laid plans!
