I thought that I would bake a cake
An easy thing to do and make. So on the counter went the stuff, "Ah Ha" said I, "this won't be tough!" But deep inside there's fear you see, From the just not "Julia" side of me. Since I've grown up, its seemed my fate, To burn or wreck what I create. When I was young, and Mom served me, I dined carefree and pleasantly. As an adult, I've shown this lack; To cook or bake? I have no knack. My brand new husband begged me please, To take a class, roll up my sleeves. So that I did, even bought a hat, And flunked the class in spite of that. So here I stand, quite all prepared, To bake a cake, as hubby dared. "Oh surely dear, it's a place to start, Bake a chocolate cake, and thrill my heart." I love him true, so try I must, Although the odds dictate a bust. The last attempt, I tried a roast? The firemen thought I should stick to toast. But now it's time to end this rhyme, For I've been saved yet one more time. This kind dear man that I so love? Just brought a gift from heaven above. "I decided we all have our strengths my dear, So I've brought you something to end your fears. I'll love you forever, even if you can't cook; I'll dwell on your kindness and how gorgeous you look." With that he did kiss me, a glorious kiss, And he handed me something that brought me pure bliss. He'd mortgaged the house and bought a 10 year supply... Of home delivered meals; for this man I would die!
