"Why is it, that every time we go to a beach it turns out to be a bad day?!" moaned Helen. "Every time!"
And on cue, the wind whipped sand in our direction. I closed my eyes and shielded my face with my sun brunt hands.

Flash.

I jumped, almost stepping on Helen's feet.
"Hey! Careful!" She warned, taking a step back.
"Oops, sorry. I just...umm..." I stopped realizing I didn't know what had happened. "Tripped, I guess."
"Bella! There isn't a rock in sight! Or at least as far as we can see. Even you can't trip on air even if the whole bloody beach is being thrown at us!!"
Another burst of sand flew into my face, a turned around and closed my eyes again.

Flash.

Suddenly I was no longer at the beach. I was floating. Floating in nothing. I felt nothing, I saw nothing. It was the only word to explain it. Nothing.

I continued to drift for a while, not sure what to do. I knew I should be scared, screaming or crying or doing anything else that might attract attention from someone.
Someone? There was no one here, and chances were that if there was... they probably weren't human.

Then, in what I supposed was far away, a curling white flooded the empty space. It looked like smoke, but it had more form as was far more forceful as it flipped and turned consuming me in a light so blinding I lost consciousness.

When I woke, I was back at the beach. The sea was calm as it gently lapped the shore, caressing the shore as a mother would a child. Trees rustled in the background. A golden sun shone above, and the day was still.

Standing up I looked for life, any person to help me. I gasped as something grabbed me and shook my shoulders, this time I did scream. There was nothing in front of me, behind me or anywhere near me!
"Anabell," it called back, as it to answer my screaming. "Anabell!"
"Go away!" I yelled back. "leave me alone!" I kicked there air directly in front of me and hit the thing. It shrieked and I felt my left cheek sting. It pushed me backwards and when I hit the sand I jolted back to the beach, the normal beach.

I looked up and saw Helen standing over me.
"Umm, a little help please?" I asked reaching my hand up to her.
"After you kicked me like that. I don't think so!" She said turning her head so her nose pointed into the air.
"I... I hit you?" I replied feeling a little confused.
"Yes, you hit me! See for yourself!" And she lifted her leg for me to see. And sure enough there was a big bruise which covered a large part of her shin.
"You were like an animal! Screaming and yelling you didn't stop 'til I pushed you!" She was exasperated.
I stared at her, "were you calling my name?"
"Yes! You heard me?!"
"Yeah, I guess I heard something saying my name."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean there was something there, which I'm guessing is you, and it kept shaking me and calling my name." I shivered. "But I couldn't see anyone. It was this beach and I was standing right here, but there was no one else around." Forcing myself to move I sat up an wrapped my arms around my legs. Helen sat beside me, her eyes full of worry and her face stunned.
"Gosh, so you couldn't see me at all?" She managed to say.
"No, but I felt you slap me though." I said eager to change the subject.
Helen instantly went pink.
"But it helped!" She claimed.
I gave her a shove, and stood before she could return the favor.
I brushed myself down and helped her up.
"So, can we go home now?" I asked.
"Yeah, and ice-cream or chocolate," she said looking a bit brighter.
"Okay, lets go!"
And with that we both grabbed our bags and headed towards the dairy.
