Foolish Dreams

You were always told to follow your heart,
To place your dreams cloud high,
To lift your head out of the dark,
Never let them see you cry.

They always said you could do anything
That you set your mind and soul to,
Just as long as you aren't pretending,
Then the true you would shine through.

But why is it so difficult?
