![]() The Sad Pumpkin Poor Penny Pumpkin was lonesome and sad, Some children had taken the best friend she had, They left her to cry in the great pumpkin patch, No-one would want her, the last of the batch. She shed such big tears, she was soaked to the bone, "It's the party tonight, and I'll be left alone." The ground was all wet, and the night was so dark, She was feeling quite scared, when she heard a dog bark. "Look, there's one pumpkin left!" came a shout from the gloom, "Let's pick it up quickly, to light up our room!" So, Penny went home with the children that night, And now, in the hallway, she glows with soft light. They made her a smile, and a pair of bright eyes, No tears for her now, in her brand new disguise. Who would guess that poor Penny, the last one to go, Is a Halloween lantern, the star of the show!
