With You

Hot is the day in this dessert
as the noise rumbles over my thoughts.
We sit and wait for an ending
which cannot come too soon.

Three days now we have endured,
living on bottled water and protein bars,
waiting for an end to boredom,
for a path to be lit towards home.

But an answer isn't before me,
the wind just howls your name.
The heat steals my strength
as my thoughts are silently sprawling.

A motion akin to slumber,
my mind races yet my body is still.
Still wishing for a sign,
one to lead me out of this boredom.

This boredom in my thoughts,
which lingers in your absence.
For when we are apart,
some of my dreams go with you.
