Ode to Summer Camp
(From a Parent’s Point of View)

Summertime, summertime at Parks and Recreation
Oh what a wonderful, fuzzy warm sensation
For all the children who can’t wait to go to camp
Who drive a parent crazy as they rave and rant
Skating, arts and crafts, nature hunts and fun-filled games
Movies, sports, and swimming...please try to keep me sane!
Talent shows and cookouts are also fun to do
Don’t ask me what is day-to-day, I haven’t got a clue!
How do the counselors do it, and keep their wits about?
When all I want to do is run, screaming...‘Let me out!’
Little people everywhere for as long as six o’clock
If I didn’t have my own, I think I’d be in shock
Little hands and little feet, a runny little nose
They’re everywhere! They’re everywhere! But that is how it goes
‘Cause summertime is for those, who get a break from school
To experience their childhood, the fun is way too cool!
So here are my excited kids, please take them, quick away
Please take them on a field trip, please wear them out today!
I appreciate your patience, your caring, and your time
If I could, I’d pay you more, it’s worth my every dime
So let me drop them off, at the time that is the best
Because I need to go to work, just to get some rest!
But you can bet that when it’s over, and school will soon begin
I will be praying for summertime, with the counselors once again!!
