ANGEL’S DINNER
BY,LEGEND ROSE On a late Sunday night Anita and Linda were driving home from a home garden party. Out of the rear view window Anita saw a fiery falling star. “Look, Linda a falling star" Make a wish. As they both made a wish the star, or what appeared to be a star vanished before them. As they both looked at each other with confusion. “Anita, Where did it go?” “I don’t know. It looked like it blew up in the air.” “Weird,” they both said as Anita drove off. Five miles down the road they pull into a small diner called “Angel’s Dinner” The two girls went in for a late night bit before heading home. Linda notice the customers staring at them when they both walked in. They looked at each other and sat at the far end of the room, sipping the icy water. “Anita, Do these people look weird or is it me?” “No, I think they might just have a staring problem.” Both laughed. The waitress came over and pulled out her pen and pad. “Hi, girls, my name is Amber. What can I get you?” The waitress took their order as they both ordered the night special. Just then a tall handsome man walked over to their table and introduced himself as James. They both greeted him. “Hello, I want to ask you both if you would like to visit our gift shop next door?” The two girls looked at him puzzled and said, “Yes, after diner we can.” “Great, You’ll love our merchandise of all our angels.” James walked away into the shop. The girls began to eat their diner special of veggies and pea soup, and talked about what just happen. “Linda, Should we go there or just leave?” Anita said. “No, Lets go see what he has to offer. There might be a supper sale. “True” Linda said. They both giggled. The girls finished up their food and left a good size tip, and headed out over to the shop and noticed it had a closed sign on the window. “I knew it was too late for a shop to be open, Linda,” Anita said. “Yeah. Let’s go,” Linda said. Just before they got the car doors open, James walked up to them again and startled both of them. “Sorry, Ladies I did not mean to scare you,” he said, and grinned. “Oh. Well you did a little,” Linda said. “I thought your shop was open, What happened?” Linda said. “It is the one in the diner, in the back room” James said. “Really? We did not see a sign in there?” “yes. It was before you walked in. See? Look at the door.” “Oh. Yeah I do. Sorry I did not notice it before.” They all laughed. Anita and Linda walked back with James to the back room. The shop was windowless and lit up with dim lights, and clocks everywhere. When they were in they saw what no other human would ever see in their lives. Anita and Linda both stared with fright and amazement. “Oh my God! Look at that, Linda. What is it?” “I don’t know but it is beautiful. “Yes it is.” What they saw was a gorgeous man with eyes blue as the sky, and skin as fair as a new born. He introduced himself as Marcus. “And who might you two be?” he said. “I’m Anita and this is my sister, Linda. How do you do?” “I am fine. Thank you. Why do you look at me with such fright?” “we are sorry,” Anita said. “We don’t mean to. But you look so unreal--like fake.” Marcus chuckled and walked away. “Anita, What is this place?” “I can not say, but do not leave me if we have to run for it.” James walked toward them and asked if they would like to sit down. They both sat, still wondering what in the world was going on. Just then, two ladies sat next to them with the same features as Marcus. “Hello, Ladies,” they said. “Hello. Can I ask you what is going on here?” Said Linda. “In a few minutes you’ll see, and be amazed,” said the women. The sisters looked at each other waiting patiently too see what will be. “Anita, I can not take it no longer, I’m leaving. Are you coming?” “Wait. Don’t you want to see what is going to happen?” “No. I could care less. Let’s go.” “All right. Let me get my purse. Geeze.” They started to walk out. James stopped them and asked why they were leaving. “Sorry, James,” Anita said, “but we think this is too weird for us, so we are going.” “But you both have a chance to see what others are dying to see.” “Dying too see? What are you saying?” said Linda. “Come back and find out.” “No,” Anita said, we have to go. “Well, you both have a good night” James told them, and then he smiled and walked off. As they got into the car Anita put it in gear and drove out of the dusty off beat dinner. As they drove off they both saw the dinner light up and Linda could not resist it, so she had to go back and see what was going on. “Linda, we to sneak a peek, please?” “Anita, are you mad? What if they are aliens or something?” “They’re not. Come on.” “Fine. But if we get murdered, I will kill you.” “Whatever. Let’s go.” Anita turned the car around and headed back to the dusty road they just left. As the car pulled in Anita put the gear in park and turned off the engine, they got out and softly closed the car doors. For what they witness, no other person had seen. Both of them looked at each other. “Linda said, “Oh my gosh! What are they?” James came toward them and said, “Angels. If you had faith and stayed, you would have been our chosen.” What do you mean the girls mumbled. “I mean, you would have been given the gift to walk with angels.” They looked at each other and when they locked eyes at James he had vanished. So had the dinner. They stood in the middle of an empty dusty lot with sadness, knowing they had almost the chance to walk with angels. So if you find yourself in the middle of nowhere and a small dinner appears, remember what happen to Anita and Linda as they lost there faith. The End!
