I have always being intrigued by Marie Antoinette. The poor woman met an awful fate for things she didn't do. This is what I learned about her.

Marie Antoinette, whose original name was Maria Antonia, was the daughter of Maria Theresa, Archducess of Hungary and was also the Queen. Her father was King Francis. She was one of 16 children. She was spoiled and was forced into marriage with young King Louis of France. He later became King Louis XVI and Marie became Queen. She was accused of having numerous affairs and was the subject of phonographic songs. She was also believed to have been causing France to fall under financial ruin and was considered to be extravagant.

Marie refused to wear corsets and once another woman, Madame Lamote posed as her and purchased a diamond necklace and she expected Marie Antoinette to pay for it. Marie refused. This was the cause of her downfall. She was ambivalent about the American Revolution. Marie was considered disloyal and it was rumored that she and the King were trying to starve their people of France. She came onto the balcony when the village people were out for her blood. She tried to convince thenm that she cared about them and was on their side. Marie was already hated by the people because she was of Austrian blood and France wanted the Queen to be of French blood. When the French Revolution broke out, she and King Louis were caught trying to escape France and were thrown into prison for years. Marie and her husband were later gulliotined for treason. Her daughter Madame Royal later became an archduchess and she was the only surviving child of Marie Antoinette and King Louis.
I read that Marie loved dogs and if she would of been born of French blood, she probably would have been a beloved Queen. Marie was a big part of history and will always be remembered.
