Passion's Winter
Written for contest, falling in love in autumn.

Surrounded by a brisk autumn night
We strolled home so slowly from the bar.
We were holding hands in the moonlight
And I fell in love under the stars.
The flame of our love was reflected
By all the orange and yellow leaves
That the trees on the path had deflected.
In her eyes I could see she believes.
Fall soon turned to winter and the snow
Covered up the flames that lined our path.
Our youthful passion started to slow
Even as bare trees felt winter's wrath.
We realized as we watched snowflakes fall
That our love was simply youthful lust.
In the freeze we felt our passion stall.
Our short affair went the way of dust.
