Crossroads
An attempt at poetry. Both figurative and literal. Thoughts?

Somewhere on the crossroads between daydreamer's sweet innocence
And sinner's blackest shadows,
I feel the earth spin beneath my feet.
And I plunge, plunge down into darkness.
Hanging on the ledge of the abyss,
My nails scraping dusty clay,
Blazing golden fires breathe hot mist against my neck.
I fight my demons with a double-edged sword
Clenched in these raw and bleeding hands.
The scarlet sun collapses
Over a horizon steeped in lava light.
And there you stand, watching me fall.
And I see it, I see armageddon in your eyes
-- But listen to me, please just listen.
I never promised anything, I asked the same in return, but
This one time, I ask for your trust.
This one time, I want you to listen.
It's my own fault.
There never was a chance for you to save me.
You could never have been my knight in shining armor.
And I'm sorry...oh, I'm so sorry...
But it was never up to you.
