Tanya
I wrote this poem for my friend Tanya's birthday :)

On that hot, humid day in my nineteenth September
Marked a time in my life I will always remember
We were first years at Bishop's, starting out on our own
In the stark, sterile rez that became our new home.
For, two doors down the hall lived a wonderful girl
Who loved music, and chocolate, and Foamy the Squirrel,
With two sparkling brown eyes and an ear-to-ear grin
That would light up the room ev'ry time she walked in,
Had a smile and a kind word for all those she met
Lived her life to the fullest, without any regrets.

So happy birthday, dear Tanya, my amazing, cool friend,
I hope the good times never come to an end
You've helped me with theory, you've helped me with life
You've given me strength to combat any strife
From contentions with Ross, to problems with guys
Though you're younger than me, you are ever so wise.
We've shared fun times, and hard times, and secrets galore
And I can't wait for whatever else that's in store,
For no bond made at Bishop's can be easily severed
So I know we'll be friends now forever and ever.

We've shared jokes, random stories, and laughter, and tears,
And now on this day that you've reached nineteen years,
I hope that you know just how awesome you've been
And I hope you enjoy your last year as a teen.
I hope that your life brings success and good cheer,
But no matter what happens, I'll always be here.
Remember I love you, always know that I care
Always know you can call me, anytime, anywhere
And I'll be there for you in the blink of an eye
If ever you need to yell, rant, scream or cry.

For the times that we've shared in our young-adult limbo
When it's okay to giggle without being a bimbo
When it's okay to laugh at nothing at all
When just hanging out is often a ball,
Even when I'm decrepit, and withered, and grey,
I'll cherish these times with each passing day.

These mem'ries will sparkle like stars in my mind
Of a friend who is funny, and honest, and kind.
Who can always be trusted, never once let me down,
Who cheers people up just by being around.
So now, my dear friend, without further ado,
I hope that your birthday's as awesome as you.
Happy birthday dear Tanya, go out and have fun,
And always remember, you're my number one :)
