Poverty To Riches

Mom, was poor and illiterate raised in the Kentucky hills.
She accomplished a lot in her lifetime without any frills.
The hunger and the winters were cold in a drafty home
A couple of her siblings died from hunger they'd known.


In those God forsaken hills back in the nineteen thirties.
At 18 she moved to a better home in northern Kentucky.
She met a man among men and gave him her sweet hand.
Six years later she gave birth to me as her first male child.


My honorable Dad left to serve In the Army in world war two.
For two years my sweet Mom was our mother and Dad too.
Dad came home from Army we moved to a better house.
Mom made it a good home and all the family was proud.


Mom finally had some riches she needed and she deserved.
I was one of her ten children I'm honored I was her third.
Parents who knew what hard times were during depression.
During those poverty stricken days of the nineteen thirties
