Flower in the Rain
My thoughts as I held a Flower in the Rain today

What could be more beautiful?

The soft silky feel between my fingers,
The smell of summer in my nose,
The burst of color in my eyes.

What could be more beautiful than a bright red flower?

The slosh of mud beneath my feet,
The icy wind against my back,
The constant dribble of water from the sky.

What could be more beautiful?!?!!

But, lo, I stand a moment in the chilly mist,
and see the raindrops sparkle
like diamonds on the petals.
Mud is transformed to loveliness
when the bloom is laid upon it.
And a sad tired heart laughs with joy
at the wonder of God's creation.

For what could be more beautiful
than a bright red flower
on a drizzly winter day?
