The letters Pink letters, smelling of roses, Bound in a crimson ribbon, Were delivered to my door, And my heart stood still. All my letters, neatly stacked, No note or explanation. My complete love story, And a heart that stood still. The sun had set twice Since I got my letters back. I couldn't eat, drink or think, For my heart stood still. The world froze around me, Waiting for my breakdown. Numbness was better than pain, While my heart stood still. Pink letters on my dresser, Revealing my story to the world. Written by a lovesick woman, Whose heart now stands still. Degrading in every way, The remnants of my love were there. Proof of my utter stupidity, Which made my heart stand still. I care not to ask him why, Nor will I plead my case. I came back to a harsh reality, Where my heart stands still. I knew then what I must do, I hadn't shed a single tear. I burned them all in the fireplace, My heart no longer stood still. ![]()
