Desert Night
A poem written for my creative writing class last year, based on a picture my dad sent me

An eclipsed moon hangs over the barren land
Where the desert extends
Far beyond the sands of time
Strange creatures haunt the night
With cold, glowing eyes
They glide nearby the other side
Of the barbed wire fence
But they cannot get in
Nor would they want to
For on the Other side
Lies an army ready for war
Clothed in camoflauge
Awaiting orders to fly
Ready to serve their country
And pay the ultimate sacrifice
