Waters
A poem that just tore itself out of me one day

O dreamy, gloomy, misty waters
I came along your narrow track
To bring my gift unto your daughters
But gifts did you not give back

These thoughts that bitterly repine
For when I brought this heart that burns
To the hum of the boughs divine
And laid them here among your ferns

Your icy arms gripped my feet
pulled me under, quenched my thirst
Your currents could not be beat
But helped my heart before it burst

Your coolness on the heart was care
your wonder on its toys
your blueness on the hearts despair
your darkness on its noise

But for this gift a price was paid
chilled waters swirl around
The tokens for this treasure weighed
and left me forever drowned
