LIGHTING OF THE BRIDGE

** #914924 Not An Image **

The covered bridge was built
back in eighteen eighty-three;
One of a few left standing,
it's now a piece of history.

Back then there were no lights
strung up at Christmas-time;
It served it's purpose then
and now serves yours and mine.

Much better roads and bridges
have been built and we don't use
the covered bridge much anymore;
but it's a treasure we can't lose.

So folks in town have gathered
to repair it's aging frame -
and strung the lights upon it
to welcome us back home again.

The lighting of the bridge
each year brings a smile;
Past and present will reunite
for such a little while.
