Editor: Megan Rose Princess Megan Rose 10 Years Assistant Editor: Angel Angel ** #916483 Not An Image ** Merry Christmas, everyone! Megan and Angel here. Is everyone done with Christmas shopping, sending out cards? I'm sure we all have our trees up. Where did the month go? We hope that Santa is good to you and that you all have a wonderful New Year. Everyone loved the last Christmas Newsletter. A million hugs and thanks to all of you. Okay. We promised you another Christmas Issue. So, here goes. Warmest Holiday Greetings to all. Frankincense Have you ever wondered where Frankincense comes from and what it was? This is what we found out. It comes from a tree. The sap of the Frankincense tree dries into a yellowish brown lump of gum resin known as frankincense. In Biblical times, frankincense was prized as the very best kind of incense. We all know it was one of the gifts that the Magi bought to baby Jesus. "Frankincense" means pure or high-quality incense. In ancient times, it was used to treat various kind of ailments. It was burned in temples of long ago for the incense. The rising fumes from burning incense may have offered worshipers a visual image of prayers ascending to Heaven. It is beleived that this gift to the baby Jesus predicted Jesus' future role as a high priest. In ancient times, frankincense and myrrh were hard to obtain and could only be a luxury for the rich. Frankiincense symbolized Jesus' great worth. Today, frankincense can be found in Arabia, Ethiopia, Somalia and India. It is still used as incense and can also be found in soap. Christmas Greenery It is believed that greenery had certain powers. Holly offered protection against witches and rosemary against evil spirits. Ivy granted good luck to women and holly bestowed good wishes to men. Garlands in the house were believed to bring good luck. We al know that mistletoe is the kissing brough, a favorite greenery for romance, Holly is the favorite plant of English Christmas decorations. Americans still love the German tradition of the Christmas Tree. It remains the most recognized symbol of the holiday. Merry Merry Christmas! We all say this from the bottom of our hearts. The English were wishing each other a festive and joyful holiday. It still means the same. "God Rest You, Merry Gentlemen" means "God Rest You Jolly Gentlemen". The word Merry means it is a time of festivity and rejoicing. Our favorite part of the Bible is the birth of Jesus. We know we can find this in the new testament of the Bible. At this time of year, I love to hear DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR and THE LITTLE DRUMMER BOY. Reading the account of Jesus Birth and listening to these two songs, you can see the birth of Jesus in your mind. What a beautiful sight it is! Join us in wishing Jesus a Happy Birthday. Best wishes to all. This is the end of our Christmas letters until next year. Angel and I wish you a Merry Christmas. If you have any other ideas that you would like for us to write about in the future, please send us an e-mail. We don't know what to write about for next month. Happy New Year, too. We love you.
